The county truck picked up approximately three hundred pounds of prepared tin cans at the Dale school, and about two hundred pounds at the St. Joseph's school.
Imogene Kleeman, a junior home ec. student was the first to complete her masterpiece, a red jumper, in sewing. She received many compliments the day she wore it to school.
A letter from the Savings Staff of the Treasury Department says in part, -"Just a note to tell you how very much the Indiana War Savings Staff appreciates the fine cooperation you and your school gave to the Schools at War program. You were one of 800 Indiana schools which participated in this program. May I ask that you pass this information to the teachers and pupils how much we appreciate the fine service they have rendered in this project.”
Eugenia Ruxer accomplished a difficult task in renovation in the advanced sewing class. She made a stylish suit for herself from a discarded man’s suit.
Ushers for “One Mad Night”, senior class play, are Irene Singer, Kathleen Thorpe, Lucille Eskridge, Imogene Poellein, Evelyn McGlothlin, and Viola Springstun. Nadine Schriefer and Dorothy Ellen Shimer will distribute programs.
Investigation reveals that many pupils are buying bonds and stamps and that the teaching staff is averaging more than the ten percent goal anticipated, some teachers investing up to twenty percent of salary in war bonds.

The band will play for the Senior Play, “One Mad Night”, on March 19. Come to see the thrilling mystery-farce and also to hear the band play the patriotic marches, such as “Army Air Corps,” “Anchors Aweigh,” and “Marines Hymn.” This is an occasion that should not be missed.

2 cups all-purpose flour* 3 3/4 teaspoons baking powder 1 3/4 teaspoons salt 6 tablespoons cold shortening 6 tablespoons Pet Milk diluted with 6 tablespoons water
2 1/2 cups grated American cheese or 1/2 pound sliced, packaged variety 1 cup Pet Milk 1/8 teaspoon pepper 3 cups drained peas, freshly cooked or canned

Turn on oven and set at hot (425 F.). Sift flour before measuring. Resift with baking powder and 1 teaspoon salt. Work cold shortening into flour mixture with pastry blender or fork. Stir in diluted milk with fork. Turn dough out on floured board; Knead a few seconds until dough is smooth. Roll to 1/4-inch thickness. Cut into 12 rounds with floured 2 1/2-inch cutter. Cut 1inch holes in center of 6 rounds; Put plain rounds on baking sheet and top with remaining rings. Bake 12 minutes, or until browned. While shortcakes bake; mix together grated cheese; milk, remaining 3/4 teaspoon salt and the pepper. Stir and cook over boiling water until mixture is smooths Add peas. Serve hot between rounds of shortcakes. Serves 6.
The refresher arithmetic class was divided into two sections, which are taught by Mr. Woolsey and Mr. Livengood. The purpose of this change was to give more time to each individual.
Miss Joan Walter has returned to Boonville after a visit with her mother Mrs. Lydia Walter and family.
