Pvt. and Mrs. Orville Barnhart of Huntingburg announce the birth of a 6 lb. daughter, Pamela Fae, born Sunday. Mrs. Barnhart was formerly Fayola Lehmkuehler.
The following item was taken from the Indianapolis Times of Friday, Jan. 29, 1943, stating that Mrs. A. J. Wedeking was to assist at the State Assembly Woman’s Club.

Officers of the State Assembly Woman’s club will be honored at a tea in the governor’s mansion next Thursday (Feb. 4). Mrs. Henry F. Schricker will be assisted by Mrs. Charles J. Buchanan, president emeritus of the club, and Mrs. Charles M. Dawson, wife of the lieutenant governor. In the receiving line will be Mrs. Curtis G. Shake, chairman; and Mesdames Oscar Ahlgren, Ward G. Biddle, Emmett F. Branch, O. G. Couch, E. Millard Dill, Luke W. Duffey, William P. Evans, James M. Givens, Richard T. James, John Kendall, John E. King, Harry G. Leslie, Glenn A. Markland, A. Leroy Portteus, Leo X. Smith, William Storen, John W. VanNess, Albert F. Walsman and A. J. Wedeking. The new officers are Mrs. Geo. W. Henley, Bloomington, president; Mrs. Frank Finney, Martinsville, first vice president; Mrs. E. C. Wakelam, second vice president; Mrs. M. W. Thompson, Covington, corresponding secretary; Mrs. Thurman Gottschalk, recording secretary; Mrs. Frank Richman, Columbus, treasurer, and Mrs. Archie N. Bobbitt, director at large. A meeting of the club which was to have been held Tuesday at the G. Barret Moxley home has been postponed until after Feb. 15. The new meeting date will be announced later.
Earl Bacon of Gentryville underwent an appendectomy Monday.

The Mountain Mist Cotton Company is displaying some of their model quilts in the C. W. Wedeking and Co. show window. These are beautiful quilts and while they are not for sale, you can get the patterns.
Mrs. Ella Rhodes of Eckerty is in the hospital for treatment.
Mir. and Mrs. Chris Kaetzel and granddaughter Sue were in Huntingburg Thursday.
Mrs. Esther Bowlin of Huntingburg is in the hospital with a broken right leg as a result of a fall Saturday.
Albert Bockstahler, Mrs. Mary Guth and son Glen and Mrs. Louis Schmitt were in Rockport Thursday.
Gary Allen, small son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Ridenour of Birdseye underwent a minor operation last Friday.

Mrs. Charlie Hobbs of Huntingburg fell at her home Monday and broke her left arm.
Mrs. Alfred Fahr returned home from Parkersburg, West Virginia after spending the past five weeks with her daughter Mrs. Alice Muhlmann and daughter Carolyn.

The Monday Nite bridge club enjoyed their Valentine party at the home of Mrs. L. C. Smith Monday night with Mesdames Mildred Martin, Lenore Tevault and Edna Brown as assistant hostesses. A two course dinner was served before the bridge. Prizes for high score were awarded Mesdames Smith, Tevault and Martin. A very enjoyble evening was spent.
Miss Emogene Schaaf of Evansville was home over the week end with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Louis Schaaf.
2 teaspoons vanilla No. 2 can pitted cherries*
Melt butter. Blend in mixture of1/2 cup sugar, the cornstarch and salt. Stir it diluted milk. Place over boiling water. Cook 20 minutes after the water starts to boil again, stirring frequently. Remove from heat and stir into slightly beaten egg yolks. Return to heat and cook 2 minutes longer. Add vanilla Cool thoroughly. Drain cherries well then put in bottom of cold baker pastry shell, Coyer with cooled custard. Beat egg whites until stiff, but not dry. Beat in remaining cup sugar gradually. Spread on top of pie. Bake in slow oven (300°F.) 15 minutes, or until brown. Makes one 9-inch pie.

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Cooper gave a party in honor of their son Marion Tuesday evening. Forty-nine were present to enjoy music, refreshments of candy, cakes and popcorn, and visiting among old friends.
