ed as attorney for the School, City of Jasper, while the new high and grade school buildings and the Jasper Gymnasium were built. He was also attorney for the City of Jasper and the town of Ferdinand for a number of years, and for various townships including Hall, Madison, Marion, Bainbridge, Jackson and Jefferson. In 1934 and 1935 Mr. Stemle served as the liquidating agent for the Farmers and Merchants State Bank of Jasper, the depositors and creditors of said bank being paid 100% of their deposits and stock holders realizing an amount in excess of par on their stock. In 1936, Mr. Stemle was elected as Prosecuting Attorney for Dubois and Pike Counties and was re-elected in the years 1938 and 1940 without opposition in either primary or fall elections. As Prosecuting Attorney Mr. Stemle has performed the duties of his office fearlessly, impartially and with good judgment, and established a reputation of being co-operative with all other law enforcing agencies. He has always been opposed to anyone perpetrating or practicing fraud or deceit upon the public, exposing the attempt of certain individuals to grab the mineral rights to several thousand acres of land in Dubois and adjoining counties.

Rev. Ed Bockstahler of Cleveland, Ohio has been visiting his brother, Julius Bockstahler and family the past week.

Mrs. Sam Weller spent the past week end with her daughter Mrs. Jobie Oliver and husband at Mt. Vernon.
Those who attended the birthday dinner in honor of Denby Hopkins Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. John Schatz, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd McCarty and son Harold, Mr. and Mrs. John Handschiegel and daughter, and Albert Handschiegel. Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Heady visited there in the afternoon.
Rev. and Mrs. Millard Brittingham, Mrs. Chas. Hanning, Chris Kaetzel and Charles Schaaf, attended a group rally of the Methodist churches at Huntingburg last Friday night.
Mr. Semle has always been active in the civic and industrial interests in his home community. In 1940, he was instrumental in reorganizing the Jasper Glove Company which furnishes employ to women workers in Jasper and surrounding community. Mr. Stemle is 34 years of age, is married and has two children. He is well qualified to the office to which he aspires and if elected will perform his duties as a State law maker in the same fair-mind-ed manner in which he conducted the office of Prosecutor.
Among those from around here who attended the funeral services of Rev. William Bockstahler were Mr. and Mrs. Louis Schmitt, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Schmitt and son Robert, Samuel Schmitt, Julius Bockstahler and daughter Frieda, Mrs. P. H. Mrs. S. A. Weller, Rev. and Mrs. Millard Brittingham. Fred Bockstahler and son Albert, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Reinke and daughter Darline, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Huppert, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bockstahler. The funeral was held last Friday at the Bayard Park Methodist church in Evansville, with burial in the Maple Grove cemetery in Boonville.
Mr. and Mrs. Ed Elliott and daughter Ruth of here and Mr. and Mrs. Carl Elliott of Vincennes attended the wedding of Vernon Elliott and Miss Bettye Frese at Indianapolis last Saturday morning.
May 5, 1942, is a native of Dubois County, Indiana. He was born on a farm near Schnellville, attended; the grade school at Schnellville, High School at Huntingburg and Jasper, being graduated from the latter school in 1926. He is the son of Anton Stemle who died in 1909 and Mrs. Carrie Stemle who now lives at Schnellville. Forced by circumstances he worked his way through high school by part time employment at the Great Western Glove Company at Jasper before and after school, on Saturdays and on a farm during vacations. After graduating from high school, he attended LaSalle University at Chicago and attended Indiana Law School working in restaurants, factories and clubs in spare time until he received his degree in law in 1931. In July 1931, he opened an office in Jasper whese he continues actively engaged in the practice of law. During this time he serv-
