!VICTORY BLOCKS!
LAST COUNTY TEACHERS’ MEETING TO BE FEB. 21
The idea is going over big. Of course we knew it would, for this is one grand township of bighearted people, who never turn down a good cause. Carter township always co-operates. Have you made your block— yet? It's a token of our best wishes. A promise to our boys that we're not only cheering, we're fighting, we’ll back them on every front, and stay with them where they need us most —behind the lines.
The last county teachers' meeting for the school year 1941-42 will be held at the Court House on Saturday, February 21. Dr. W. P. Dearing, president of Oakland City college, will be the principal speaker, and will address the teachers in the morning period at about 10:30 o'clock. The Dale high school band will furnish the music for the opening period.
There will also be a Teachers' Federation meeting scheduled for the afternoon. Thomas Fortune, president of the federation, has secured Dr. Heber Walker, professor of history at Evansville college to bring the address for that session. Very little time will be devoted to business at this meeting, according to Mr. Fortune.
Almost everyone can make one or more of these blocks. If not, then cut the strips for those who haven't time to prepare them.
And we need cotton hose too; also cotton or wool closely knit garments (discarded). So won't you please look your attic over and send in discards that can be salvaged into needful things. Call for articles to cut — we need cutters and we know they will respond. “A little job for a big cause— “Victory Blocks!”
The public is invited to attend these sessions.
Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Paul Fuller of Chrisney will move to Dale next week. They will move in the home with P. W. Fuller, whose health has been poorly for sometime. Mrs. Bertha Fuller will continue to live at Chrisney and take care of the funeral home there.

THUMBS UP FOR BONDS AND STAMPS! This war poster, illustrating how Americans can help the air forces to victory, is being displayed in the windows of 500,000 of the Nation’s retail stores where Defense Stamps—in denominations from 10 cents to $5 — are being sold. This is one of a series of human-interest posters being prepared to remind the public of its part in the war effort.
C. W. Wedeking & Co. are observing “Save and Sew” weeks for the next two weeks. Articles of handiwork from different folks are on exhibit in their show window. It is a very interesting window.
Rev. O. A. Beanblossom was a visitor in Evansville Tuesday.
