Seniors have written autobiographies given literary sketches from “The Americana”, and are giving patriotic readings and brief talks about the origin of our national songs, heroic deeds, the flag, and other topics. Also they have daily exercises in “Key to English Mastery,”
Juliette Gogel, class of ’42 had her transcript of credits mailed to school of nursing, St. Joseph’s Infirmary, Louisville, Ky.
On Jan. 9 the Aces zoomed to Grandview where they ran rough-shod over the Grey Hounds, coming out on the long end of the 40-17 score. The Aces started fast, and were never headed or pressed by the Grey Hounds.
All teachers, bus drivers and janitors took the required T. B. test at the Boehne hospital, Saturday. Results of the tests are not yet known.
The junior literature class is studying short stories and poems about “How The West Was Won”; in their history class the students are discussing conditions and problems which occured during the beginning of labor in industry and labor organizing.
The class in blueprint reading has increased to eighteen.
The Golden Aces are ready and eager to meet their Spencer County rivals Friday and Saturday, Jan. 23 and 24, at Grandview. We all want to get behind the Aces and back them to another victorious year-
Mrs. Carl Witte of Bristow visited Mrs. J. H. Barrow last Saturday.
The next game to be played on the Dale floor will be Jan. 31. This will be the Flora boys' first appearance. The team comes from the Northern part of the state, near Kokomo.
Having completed the work about color harmony and the different kinds of fabrics, the Home Economic III students are now ready to start the renovation problem.
The sixth and seventh period agriculture students are now building a portable brooder house, in which they will raise chicks. The freshman class together with their agriculture class will care for them.
In the course of the past weeks, the second year Latin students have learned how to write dates and birthdays in Latin. They have found this interesting and hope to continue with this work. The students are also required to give at least one book report. The first report, “with the Eagles” by Anderson, was given by Leslie Scott.
The Dale High Band played “Star Spangled Banner” and several other numbers at the Holland game on Wednesday night.
