year will run from August 29 through September 5 —eight big days and nights. Mr. Overstreet’s interest in agriculture dates back through several years of operation of Bartholomew county farms. His interest in fairs comes from several years’ service as secretary of the Bartholomew County Fair Association, recognized as one of the best managed in the Middle West. Several years ago Mr. Overstreet was elected to the Indiana Board of Agriculture and was assigned to the Manufacturers Building and machinery field. In this capacity experience gained as president of the Columbus bank and as a member of the board of directors of several Columbus industrial firms proved of special benefit. Last year Mr. Overstreet directed the sheep department through one of the finest State Fair shows in history. During the past several months President Overstreet has made numerous trips to the state fair grounds at Indianapolis to work out plans for the “Biggest and Best” State Fair in history. Years of service with fairs taught Mr. Overstreet that the throngs who attend such events mand service. To bring about the best in accommodations additional box offices have been built in the coliseum and grandstand. New rest rooms have been constructed and many new drinking fountains erect-
ed. Sidewalks have been patched, and a new hard-surfaced roadwayconstructed to the entrances of the boys and girls dormitories and the exhibition hall of the new youth center.
