A meeting was held at the Court House at Rockport Monday evening of the directors of the Spencer County Red Cross Chapter.
Miss Maud Lang of Richland was present and made a report of the First Air and Accident Course she attended at Culver, Ind., in June. She was sent by the Spencer County Red Cross and in turn she expects to organize similar classes in the county during the fall and winter and give first aid instructions to those who are interested. There will be no charge connected

COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION MET MONDAY AT ROCKPORT
Rev. and Mrs. W. A. Skelton had as their guests Wednesday, J. R. Skelton, father of Rev. Skelton, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Skelton and daughter Jean, the former a brother of Rev. Skelton, all of Newburgh and Mr. and Mrs. E. O. Simpson of Evansville, the latter a sister of Rev. Skelton.
At the County Board of Education, Monday, July 21, it was decided to have the preliminary School day on Friday, August 29; County Institute on Saturday, August 30; and the regular school term to begin on Monday, September 1.

Mrs. Frieda Werner and Mrs. Edith Andraes of Evansville visited Mrs. Horace Walter and other relatives here Sunday.
The new “Audiometer Law” was also discussed. According to the law passed by the legislature this year, it will be necessary that all children in the public schools be tested for hearing. To accomplish this an audiometer will be necessary. The trustees voted to purchase one for the county on a pro rata basis, all school corporations contributing. Rockport has been asked to join in the plan. Two trustees, O. I. Brooner of Carter Township and Chris Stowers of Ohio Township, together with the County Superintendent and Rockport Superintendent will comprise the committee to purchase the machine.

Dr. and Mrs. Merit Pennington and son Jack were recent visitors in Vincennes.
Mr. and Mrs. David I. Day Jr. of Rockport were recent visitors here with relatives.
Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Sattler and family of Huntingburg visited her parents Mr. and Mrs. Roy Wertman Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Russel Hile are here from Tiffin, Ohio for a visit with the former’s mother and brother, Mrs. Clara Hile and Irvin.
The Physical Examination law was also discussed. According to this law, also passed this year, at! teachers, bus drivers, and janitors must be examined for tuberculosis, and a chest X-ray will be required. Blood tests for syphilis, a part of the law, are optional to be required by school officials, as well as consideration given to the practice of drug addiction of school employees. The trustees voted to give further study of the law and its execution.
Mr. and Mrs. George Linhardt were Sunday guests of Virgil Heldt at Lamar.
Mr. and Mrs. H. R. Stone were here over the week end enroute to their home in Cairo, Ill. after spending their vacation in the East and Canada.
Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Day and Mrs. Ethel Rhodes of New Albany spent the first of the week with Mr. and Mrs. George Leathco.
Chester Brown of Colorado but who is now stationed at Ft. Knox, Ky. in the U. S. Army, visited his relatives here Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. H. M. Rust of Indianapolis were guests of the latter's parents Mr. and Mrs. George Linhardt for the past two weeks.
