COUNTY YOUNG PEOPLE’S RALLY
STATE FAIR HORSE SHOW CATALOGUES READY TO MAIL
MRS. MARY DAECH BURIED IN DALE SUNDAY AFTERNOON
A county interdenominational young people’s rally will be held at the Eureka Baptist Church next Thursday night, June 26, sponsored by the Spencer County Council of Christian Education. The rally will begin at 7:45 p.m. At this meeting, delegates who attended the State Sunday School! Convention at Newcastle, recently, will give a resume of what took place at the convention.
Mary Daech (nee Koenig) daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Koenig was born on Nov. 5, 1871, at Dale, Indiana. She grew up and attended school in this community. At the age of 31 she was united in marriage to Charles Daech of St. Louis, Mo. Her husband went to his eternal rest on June 10, 1921. Since then she has made her home in Chicago and Dale. She has been in bad health for the past six years and the past 2 1/2 years has been with her brother Frank at Chicago, where she died on June 11, 1941. Mrs. Daech has been a life lone member of St. Ann’s Society of St. Joseph’s Church, Dale. A faithful member of her church and a good example and friend to all.
Catalogues for the famous Indiana State Fair night horse show, internationally famous equine event, are ready for distribution, Senator John Bright Webb, member of the Indiana Board of Agriculture in charge of the Horse Department, announced today. In the new Coliseum and Live Stock Pavilion with more than 8,000 permanent seats and the largest tanbark arena in the world, visitors will have an opportunity to see this great indoor show which will be held every night starting Sunday, August 31st through Friday, September 5th. This famous Night Horse Show, known throughout the United States as one of the most outstanding events, will offer purses and stakes totalling over $20,000 to be paid without deductions, according to Senator Webb.
Each Sunday School is urged to send its leaders and young people to this rally.

MRS. EVA BARTLOW DIES AT BUFFALOVILLE WEDNESDAY
She is survived by four brothers, Adam of Evansville, Frank of Chicago, Jacob of Louisville, Alois of Dale; 27 nieces and nephews; 21 great-nieces and nephews and a host of distant relatives and friends.
Mrs. Eva Bartlow died at her home in Buffaloville early Wednesday morning after a lingering illness. She had reached the age of 81 years. She is survived by two sons, Henry of Evansville and William of Modesta, California and one daughter, Mrs. Jess Taul of Evansville, seventeen grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.
The first show will be held on Sunday night, August 31st and will feature Indiana Night. While each night will have its special events, there will be several $1,000 stakes held for the three and five-gaited horses intermittently during the week. This attraction is a show within itself and every lover of fine horses cannot afford to miss this wonderful event as it brings out the best stables in the United States with many horses worth thousands of dollars.
MRS. MARY McCALLISTER DIES
Mrs. Mary McCallister, 63, died of a heart attack at 1:40 o'clock Sunday afternoon, June 8, at her home here in Dale.
Funeral services were held at the Buffaloville Methodist Church Thursday afternoon, June 12th, with burial in the Buffaloville cemetery. Rev. George Andrews was in charge of the services.
She is survived by six children, Mrs. Carl Head and Miss Mary McCallister of here, Mrs. Earl Steffen of Jasper, Robert and Everett McCallister of Evansville, and Allen McCallister of Huntingburg, and eight grand-children. Funeral Services were held at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Ralph Colton of Jasper in charge. Burial was in the Dale cemetery.
WHITTEN-WILLIAMS
RURAL LETTER CARRIER’S ASSN. MEETS AT DALE
The marriage of Miss Virginia Whitten, daughter of Mrs. Lydia Whitten of Hale to George Calvin Williams, son of Dr. and Mrs. Q. L. Williams of Folsomville, was solemnized at 10:30 a. m. Sunday, June 8, at the General Baptist parsonage at Francisco, Ind., the Rev. C. E. Williams conducting the single ring ceremony in the presence of immediate families.
The rural letter carrier's association and ladies’ auziliary of the eighth district met at Dale, Saturday, June 14th, for their annual convention.
A resolution was adopted thanking the ladies of the St. Joseph's Church for the sumptuous banquet served in their beautifully decorated hall. The local committee fishes to thank our trustee, O. I. Brooner, for the use of the gymnasium and all others who helped to make this a most successful meeting.
POT LUCK SUPPER
Class number three of the Methodist Sunday School will hold their pot luck supper and party at the home of Miss Mabel Wedeking next Wednesday evening at seven o’clock prompt. Each member is requested to bring their own table service. Hostesses for the program are: Miss Mabel Wedeking, Mesdames Merot Pennington, Louie McDaniel, S. G. Johnson, E. H. Loehr, Herb. Richardson, and Leland Hildebrant. All members are urged to be present.
Attendants were Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Whitten, brother and sister-in-law of the bride.
The bride is a graduate of Dale High School and the groom is a graduate of Folsomville High School and Oakland City College. They will make their home in Evansville where the groom has employment.
In addition to the state officers and others from throughout the state who attended the convention were Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Miller of Mt. Carmel, Ill. and Mr. and Mrs. F. H. Cranor of Owensboro, Ky.
