Class Number Three of the Methodist Sunday School was entertained at their regular social meeting Tuesday evening at the home of Mrs. Roy Stone by the committee in charge. A short program was enjoyed. Devotions were in charge of Miss Mabel Wedeking. Mrs. Williams gave a very enjoyable reading. Another reading was given by Miss Mabel Wedeking. Vocal numbers were presented by the trio, Misses Ruth Schroer, Nina Adams and Geraldine Griffieth. Chinese checkers were enjoyed after which refreshments were served by the hostesses. Those present besides the trio were the following members and friends, Mesdames Flora Williams, Claude Springston, M. Pennington, Amos Weitkamp, Henry Smith, Herbert Hemmer, Hattie Rhodes, Olin Cooper, Ann Griffieth, Fred Marquet, George Leathco, Grace Kissel, Misses Sarah, and Clara Schroer, Mabel Wedeking, Estelle Richardson, Elzora Marshall, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Stone, Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Schroer, Rev. and Mrs. W. A. Skelton and Mrs. G. M. Willison.

Merlyn Elliott will accompany his son Jerry to St. Joseph Institute near St. Louis next Tuesday, where Jerry will enter school for this coming year.
Dr. J. H. Barrow removed the tonsils of Ernest Mickel, Jr., of Selvin last Wednesday.
A group of Republican committeemen tryed to oust R. H. McMurtrie,-of Huntingburg, as eighth district republican chairman, Tuesday, at a called meeting in New Albany but failed because of a lack of votes. Those opposed, state that their opposition is only because of his lack of experience. Editors Note—We feel that Mr. McMurtrie has made a good chairman so far and are glad that we can say that he is still eighth district Republican chairman.
No. 1 unpopular man of the United States Thursday was Col, F. C. Harrington, Works Projects administrator, who issued orders suspending 650,000 WPA workers from the rolls. Colonel Harrington’s order is mandatory under the “anti-career” provision of the new relief act, requiring workers who have
