Miss Nannie Davis was down from Brown's Valley Monday. Easter entertainment will be given at the Methodist cliurch.

J. V. Smith, of Decatur, 111., was here on business Saturday. Daniel Murphy spent Saturday and Sunday at New Richmond.

Ted Johnson came down from Crawfordsville to spend Sunday. Albert Klelser is having an acetylene gas machine put in his house.

Robert Burford removed his household goods to his farm Monday. James Robertson and daughter Mable were in Crawfordsville, Saturday.

Mabel Moss was baptized at the Presbyterian church Sunday morning. Miss Edwards has been holding a successful revival at Russellsvllle.

Baker Conner will occupy the McNutt property on east Main street. Mort Butcher, editor at Rosedale spent Sunday with his family here.

Daniel Garwood, of Crawfordsville spent Sunday with John Johnson here. Joe Hicks and wife have removed their household goods to Indianapolis.

The song service ut the Presbyterian church last Sunday night was well attended.

Mrs. Madge Jarrell, of Rosedale spent Sunday with her mother, Mrs. Thompson.

Rev. John Ashley, of Indianapolis will preach at the Christian church next Sunday.

Joe Hicks has bought a tonsorial parlor at Indianapolis, which he will open this week.

People are already beginning to talk of camping and fishing and Pleasant View and flies,

Dot Moody accidentally cut off three of his baby brother's fingers last Sunday morning.

L. E. Acker will remove his household furniture from the farm to the property of Joe Hicks.

Clarence and Lucy Milligan were taken in full memberihip at the Presbyterian church Sunday.

Potatoes are very high and greatly in demand, but other garden seeds are selling at the usual prices.

Sunday not a boarder was at the hotel, an unparalelled event in the history of the boarding house.

The ladies of the Presbyterian church will give an Easter supper in the Glover building Friday night.

Last Friday night the town board decided to have the acetylene gas plant put in for the use of the town.

George St. John, foreman of the acetylene gas plant, has accepted a position with the Simms hardware house in St. Louis.

Will Cook and John Rice are training their horses on the west Main road. We do hope we will have a chance to see the races.

The senior and gophomore Hags waved over the high school building from Thursday until Sunday morning when they took a fall. The juniors footed the bill but the seniors and sophomores had to finally remove them.

Mrs. John Merril is on the sick list. Seth Swank's infant child was buried a few days ago.

L. M. Coons and Charley Goff traded horses the other day. Dennis Moore bought some hogs at the sale the other day.

The farmers have commenced to break ground for oats. Carlton Moore was clerk at the Widener and Dane sales on last Friday.

If you want to talk to Tommie Quillan just call him up over the phone. Miss Whill Alexander is staying with her sister at Wingate for awhile.

Ed Camp got crippled Monday building fence some way so he isn't able to do very much.

Bert Wood got crippled in the knee at the sale the other day and he hasn't been able to work.

There will be preaching at the M. E. church on next Sunday at 10:4o a. m. and 7 o'clock p. m.

Clarence Widener and family called on Mrs. Widener's mother and brother west of Wingate last Sunday.

Mrs. Annie Goff set her incubator last week. This is her first lesson with the incubator. She set 240 eggs.

Willard Gardner, of Boone county, was called here last week on account of the illness of his father and mother.

Bert Zeiglar and wife, of near Snyder Chapel, called on Sherman McClamrock and family Saturday and Sunday.

The ladies' aid society of this place did splendidly with their dinner at the sale on last Friday. They cleared $33.52.

Most of the farmers on routes No. 2 and 3 have received their mail boxes, and will soon be ready to receive the mail.

Harry and Leslie Vancleave, of Wingate, called on their uncle and aunt, Levi Coons and wife, last Saturday and Sunday.

Uncle Joe Bowers and wife have raturned to their home at this place, after spending the winter with their children.

George Widener is about to buy the Will Cox property at this place. If he does he will move there instead of Wingate.

It was reported that Clarence Widener's little boy had the measles but it was a mistake. They say he had some kind of rash.

Ferm Utterback and Clarence Swank went to Michigan^a week ago and are working for $20 a month. They say they like it there.

Mr. Gouke, of Illinois who bought Mr. Golf's farm, was here the latter part of the week on business. He will move in a few days.

Charles GofT sold his aurrey to George Patton and his harness to Mr. Gouke. if you don't want to trade don't mention trade to Charles.

Miss Ollie Applegate has an attack of scarlet fever at the home of Emmett Grenard. Several people have been exposed to the disease.

Raymond Alexander, of near New Rlohmond called on Dr. Olin and famiiy last Sunday and also attended church at the M. E church.

Tom Ledster is doing some ditching for A Ibert AmeB. They say the ground is very dry. You can dig down five feet and you wont strike a drop of water.

Wright Alexander, wife and daughter, Whill made a trip near Linden on last Saturday evening to visit their son and his family. They say he likes his new home.

and wife as he returned home in the evening. Carl Jones is very poorly and it is thought he can't live long. He has been a cripple for years and is the son of Isaac Jones. Mr, and Mrs. Jones have the sympathy of the neighbors and friends in their troubles. They have had so much bad luck with their family getting crippled and kicked by horses and killed and Mr. Jones himself was struck by lightning and was stunned pretty badly.

God has seen fit to take from our midstanother beloved wife and mother. Mrs. Joe Swank died Saturday, March 22, of lung trouble. She had been failing for several months. She was like a good many others, she thought she would get well. She died very suddenly. She leaves a father, mother, two brothers, two sisters, husband- and three children and a host of friends to mourn for her. She belonged to the Old School Baptist church. Her funeral was held at the Baptist church at this place on Monday, March 24th. by Brother James Smith, of Vermillion county, ufter which her remains were laid to rest in Oaklin cemetery. The pallbearers were some of her ladv friends. The parents, father and children have the sympathy of all.,
