TOOK NO ACTION.
The Commissioners Discuss the Proposition of F. P. Mount 'or a Compromise But Again Pass it Up.
Saturday afternoon the matter of compromising the cases of the thirtysix ''floaters'- who were convicted under the Caraway law, was discussed by the board of county commissioners aud tbeir attorneys, Crane & Anderson, but it was decided to take no action in the matter and to let Mr. Mount pro ceed with his case. He had offered to compromise for $25 for each case, the law stipulating a reward of $100 for each conviction, but ia spite of the fact that the supreme court has ruled that first sectiou of the Caraway law to be constitutional, making Mr. Mount's chances for recovering the entire amount look very rosy, the commis sioners felt that it was best to take no action in the matter and let the matter go through the courts in the regular manner. Mr. Mount was not present at the meeting.
Mr. Mount last week filed a petition for a change of venue and this has now been granted by the Montgomery circuit court, the case being sent to Fountain county for trial. The case will probably not come up for trial at Covington until the Jauu.try tfirm of court.
