Last Monday at 5 o'clock after an illness of about two weeks from tuberculosis of the bowels, Mrs. Elinore Dotiglas, wife of Rev. J. M, Douglas, died at her borne in Toledo, O. The funeral occurred Wednesday after noon at Toledo and interment was in the same city.

Eiinore Barnhart was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. M. Barnhart, of this city, and was born in Darlington Oct 9, 1860. She came to this city with her parents when a child and lived here until December, 18!)4. when she was married to Rev. J. M. Douglas, ami they then wur.t to Montana, where Mr. Douglas held a pastorate in the Presbyterian church for three years. The then moved to Toledo, O., where Mr Douglas has been engaged in pastoral work. To them were born two children, both girls, one six and the other two years old. Mrs. Douglas, during her life in this city, was an active work«-r in Center Preshytorian church, being a member of the choir at one time, ad an oarnest worker in the young peo i»le's society. Her beautiful Christian life left its impress up in ali those who came in contact with her, and by her death a very useful servant has been called home to rest Mrs Douglas had many warm personal friends in this city who sympathize deeply with the bereaved husband and children in their irreparable loss. How the Change Was Mode. John Li. B.jnnell was sworn into tin office of collector of internal revenue the Seventh district of Indiaia Tuesday at 8 o'clock. Mr. Bonnell arrived in the city Tuesday inon inir a'' 2 o'clock from Indianapolis and was at the revenue ollij's early- Mr. Bonnell receipted for $2,875 .'56.'?.40 worth of stamps, and there were $-141,088.17 worth of stamps in broken packages that will be forwarded to Washington. Lt is a custom of the service that when a new collector is sworn in that all broken packages of stamps shall be forwarded to the department at Wash ington, and that the new regime shall be inaugurated with a "clean slate."

There are fifty seven storekeeper.and gaugers who will not be affected b* the change in the collector.-hip. Mr Bunnell's salary will be $4,500, out of which he must pay his traveling ex penses.

Some time ago a borr.e aud hungry was stolen from near iluncie, and the police having been notified, thought they had the man located near this city. Mr. Davis, of the lirrn of Davis V- Cos, of Lebanon, know the rig and was telephoned to come over. He arrived ou Tuesday ard in company with oCicer Steele went, to the home of John Snyder at the old Nutt farm. Tbe fellow wa* suirmoned to the house and came in with am IUI on his shoulder. When told to throw up his hands he acted as though ho would use the weapon bui a pun drawn by the officer caused him to drop it. He gave the name of Joe Brown, which is evidently aa-umad, and claimed that his home is in southern Indiana. He stated that he was twenty years old and confessed to stealing tho rig which, was with him on the Snyder farm. He will be taken back to the scene of h!« crime.
