WARM RESOLUTIONS.

The Methodist Conference at Brazil Expresses Some Patriotic Sentiment.

At the Methodist conference at Brazil on Saturday, the following resolutions were adopted by an unanimous vote:

Inasmuch as our beloved chief magistrate, Wm. McKinley, eminent as a citizen, renowned for his significant service to the American commonwealth. exemplary in honor, virtue and uud3tentatious but faithful in his Christian life, has been stricken down by the hand of an assassin, and

WHEREAS, for many years a propoganda of anarchism has been carried on in the United States by the publications and oft repeated speeches of avowed anarchists, thereby inflaming the minds of the ignorant, besotted and half insane, to conspiracy, arson and assasination, thus attempting to destroy the foundations of all divine and civil law.

Beaolved,

that we call upon all our

people as they weep over the untimely death of our Christian President to confess our individual and national trans gressions, repent of all forms of community and national sin and oriug forth fruits meet for repentance by stainless private life and by a more earnest and Christian devotion to civic duty.

That we demand the immediate and absolute suppression on the part of the authorities of these anarchistic publications and utterances and the rigid enforcement of existing statutesagainst these insane and devlish conspiracies both against the government and family.

That, as an attack upon the President is a crime against the federal government we call upon our senato sand representatives from Indiana to support an act of congress making an assault to do, anywhere under the flag, bodily violence upon the President, Vice-Presi-dent or members of the cabinet, justices of the supreme court, and federal judges an act of treason and punishable as such.

We extend to the bereaved widow our heartfelt sympathy and beseech the good all Father to comfort her as only He can.

That we pledge to President Roosevelt our co-operation in every loyal and patriotic enterprise, and hereby promise to solicit from God His infinite blessing upon the new administration.

Passed Resolutions.

HEADQUARTERS MCPHERSOX POST No. 7, Department of Indiana G. A. R. -CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind, Sept. 14, 1901.—At a called meeting of the above post, a committee of four was appointed to draft resolutions upon the death of our President and comrade, William McKinley, which resolutions follow:

WHEREAS, the Commander-in-Chief of the universe has mustered out our distinguished comrade, President McKinley, therefore be it

Ecmlvcd,

that while we bow in

humble submission to the order of divine authority, we feel the terrible blow aimed at our national life through its authorized head.

Eesclved,

that as members of the

Grand Army of the Republic,, we feel that our ranks have been broken by the foul hand of an unscrupulous assassin and that the sacred precincts of our order has been ruthlessly invaded,

Resolved,

that we recommend that

the congress of the United States enact such laws as will adequately protect our officials in the future, and make this country untenable by anarchists and breeders of internal dissension.

Jicsolvcd

that we mourn with the

bereaved relict and tender ^er our heartfelt sympathies. J. D. TRACY,

Dr. Clssel's Report.

Rev. Dr. J. II. Cissel Friday made his last report to the M. E. annual conference as presiding elder of the Crawfordsville district. He said in part: "It is with mingled feelings of joy and sadness that 1 present my sixth and last annual report of Crawfordsville'district. Joy because of success achieved, sadness at separating from ministers and laymen with whom I have formed heart friendships that will perish never. "There was but one death during the year in the families of the preachers of the district, that of Mrs. Demetrius Tillotson, of Lebanon. The total number of conversions in the district for the year was 879 and the accessions to the church on probation 737. 547 have been received into full membership. In all nine good parsonages have been built or purchased during the past six years. Extensive improvements have been made on many others. First church, Crawfordsville, has been, during the year, renovated and refurnishat a cost of $650. $2,791 have been paid on old church debts. The present-total indebtedness on churches is $3,270, and on parsonages $1,330. Arrangements have been made to pay all these debts. Twelve churches have been built in the district in the past six years at the rate of two a year, and the aggregate cost of the churches and parsonages created during that period has been $55,000.

There has been a gradual increase in the salaries of the preachers, and the amount contributed to the church benevolences. There are in the district 82 Sunday sohools, 41 senior and 20 junior leagues. Among the thirty-two pastors of the distriot very few changes are absolutely necessary and the probable ohanges do far as I can see are few. The pastors, generally, are doing well and the churches are happy and contented."
