Several of them are etill using tallow dips. A bookkeeper may be seen making his entries In a great ledger with the light of a single candle and the wealthy proprietor may be found bending over his big mahogany desk flanked by two tall and stately candelabra.
Stars of First and Second Magnitude Astronomers say there are only eighteen stars of the first magnitude. The light from these takes about three years to reach the earth. There fifty-five of second magnitude.
