\Villiam Mount, brother and nephew, W. Brain Mount, left for Indianapolis Thursday morning. •lulius LaHage was called home from Frankfort, Ky., Wednesday by the serious illness of Mrs. LaPage. she is resting easier this (Thursday! morning.

Never in the history of our town did we receive such a shock as we did when we received the news of Governor Mount's death. All citizens, regardless of party or creed had looked forward to the day when we would meet and welcome him home. Men, women and children gathered on the street corners and with moist eye and quivering voice extol his many virtues, as we had long since learned to do him honor, and we had expected to receive so much from him upon his return, as he had long been recognized as our leader in all things pertaining to good, and now by his death Franklin township sutlers an irreparable loss.

EVEN INGSIDE

Mr. Mitchell is building a new barn. Several cases of measles are reported in this vicinity.

Wilson Turner and family are the proud owners of a new cow. Mrs. Lee Reichard and Grandma iaugherty are on the sick list.

Miss Cora Vanscoyoc, of Whitesville. spent last week with Mrs. Richmond. Lee Reichardjreturned last Tuesday from a lengthy visit with relative* in the east.

Miss May Sidener and M. C. Miller are both able to out after a serious attack of fever.

The writer was one of about twentyfive guests that assembled at the home of Mrs. Dan Brackney on last Sunday to assist in celebrating her birthday. All the delicacies of the season were tastefully arranged on a well spread table which was presided over by Misses Fanny McMullen. Clara Busenbark and Lois Brackney. The evening was spent in social conversation, and as each guest departed for their homes they wished Mrs Brackney many more such pleasant birthaays.

Mrs. Etta Mote is working fo^ Mrs. Will Gulley. George Bowman is cutting wood on Mr. Voris' farm.

Joe Bradley ate dinner Conrad last Friday. Ed Vail and Wesley King have been hauling corn to Linden this week.

Effie and Harry Kellison are visiting their grandfather, Samuel Kellison. Russell King, of New Richmond, spent Saturday night with his uncle, George King.

A series of meetings will begin at Young's chapel on January 2!th by Kev. Hedrick.

Fred Welliver, Gip Blanton, Viola Dawson and Jennie Bailey saw ''A Black Sheep" at Crawfordsville Tuesday night.

The party at George King's Tuesday night was well attended. The evening was spent with plays and instrumental music furnished by Mrs. Etta Mote. Wesley King and Allie Douglas.

Shube Vail and wife gave a party to the young folks last Thursday evening. Those present were: Misses Lyda Vanscoyoc, Maude. Goldie and Pearl Wiseliart, Mrs. Etta Mote. Jessie Barnhart, Mrs. Myrtle Staley and Messrs. Arthur Beckner, Lon Pax ton. Wesley King and Charles Staley. Cake walks were given led by Charles Staley.

Ward Walkup, of Crawfcrilsville, was in these parts last. Tuesday visiting the. schools, lie with I). C. Moore and family.

Charley Johnson and George Moore went to Seattle, Wash to look a location with the intention of moving if the place and climate suits them.

Arthur Henderson started to his school one clay last week in hiS»carr. and he went to raise his umbrella and his horse became frightened and ran otY. throwing him out. 11 got lose from 'ihe cart and Homer Riddle caught the hor-e. Arthur was not hurt much.

The protracted meeting at the Baptist church at Waynetown closed on last Monday night with twelve additions to the church. The church was greatly revived. The candidates will be baptized at the clone of the church meeting on next Saturday. Twelve are to be baptized.

Mrs. George Thomas is recovering from a severe attack of kidney trouble. Mrs. Eliza White has been quite sick during the past week from general exhaustion.

Foster Ogle has been confined to the house for several days with bronchial troubles.

Squire Henry has bought Wm. Jackson's property in stumptown and has moved into it.

Miss Laura Chancey, of Penfield. 111., is stopping with her sister. Mrs. Dr. Dickerson. for an indefinite period.

The old officers were re-electe'd at the Methodist Sunday school last Sun day. including F. 1. Philips for superintendent.

Mrs. Mary D, Thompson is convalescing from a severe attack of pneumonia at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Jesse Martin.

Joseph McJimsey and wife returned to their home at Marysville, Mo., after a pleasant visit of two weeks with friends here ana at Romney.

Cadwallader iV Buxton, dealers in boots shoes and harness, have dissolved partnership. Mr. Cadwallader retaining the business. Mr. Buxton will return to his farm.

The meeting at the M. E. church is beginning with a Bplendid interest and good attendance. Mrs. Kirkpatrick, of Illinois, will be here Saturday to assist in the singing. She is a singer of reputation and her presence and help will no doubt add much to the interest of the mecMngs- Everybody is invited to attend che services. The subjects for Sunday will be: Morning, "The Powers By Which We Are to Overcome the World evening, "The Transforming Power of the Gospel."

The supervisor of our school, Mr. Weesner, resigned to accept a position in Denver, Col. His pupils presented him with a copy of "Alice of Old Vincennes" as a mark of the esteem in which they held him. Mr. Weesner •arries with him the best
