On'*" Christmas eve, Mi-Donald &' Steele placed in the cellar at their green houses all the flowers cut for iChrilitmas 'delivery. A lamp was placed in the cellar to temper the atmosphere, as it was rather cool, and some time during the night it got to Bmoking. In the morning-^1L the flowers, ovet seventj'-Tiv'e' doilars' worth, were as black as" coal.
