James Carter, a prominent farmer living north of hero, has been troubled for many years with a wen on the back of hie head. On Wednesday of last week he went to the office of Dr. Dickerson and had it removed in the doctor's happiest manner. It was very large but was easily removed and Mr. Carter will soon be entirely well.

Our community was shocked on Sat urdav morning when it was announced that Mrs. Wm. Marshall we.s dead. Carrie Calhoun was born July 1, 1869, was married to Wm Mtt-re-hall /abr^ut three years ago, and died Dec. 9, 1899. of heart failure. On Monday night about- 11 o'clock as Allie Lewis was returning norne from a pleasant chat with his sweetest giri, in passiDg No. 9 school houfie, near the residence of Isaac Meharry, he saw a bright light therein and upon examination found that tbe stove door had been opened by a chunk of burning wood rolling against it and failing on the floor, which had taken fire and'already made considerable headway when Allie broke in the door. He aroused the nearest neighbors and every person that had a telephone was soon called and by hard work they managed to extinguish the flames after a time. The fire was hard to manage as there was a double floor and the fire had a tendency to run between the two floors and was bard to get at. School was closed for the week and repairs are going on, which will

The clearing up of the title of the 20 acres adj uning the cellulose plant on north Las caused a delay in .receiving the fodder. The company wants a clear title to the land before commencing to rick the fodder.

The cellulose company is receiving car load after car load of maehiney, but we have not seen the electric lights yet nor the electric ears, but no doubt the time iB near when we will see all that tbey told us they would have,

James Galey took a nice lot of black Langshan chickens to the poultry show at Ladoga and made quite a good display by carrying off several ribbons.

Alex Rush has bought a farm on the creek and is building a nice house and will be with us in the spring. We bid him and his good wife welcome.

The braes band is progressing nicely. Miss Gertrude Hampton is visiting friends in Garfield this week.

John Glover went to Cincinnati this week to buy Christmas goods. R. G. Crist and Dr, J. L. Beatty were inlridtanap olis Tuesday on business.

Miss May Lawrence has returned to her home in Ladoga after a ten weeks' stay here.

E der W. H. Brown, pastor of the Christian church here for three years, resigned his work last Sunday nignt. Thib was quite a surprise to most of his congregation and we regret to see him leave. He has made a host of friends at this place who wish him success wherever he may go. He was a pastor in every 6ense of the word, in the pulpit, at tbe fireside, and on the street. He always pointed his friends to the better life and urged them to be faithful until tbe close of this life, and thea there was a mansion in the skies for all who followed after their Master. Thomas Grissom had bis little finger taken off last Wednesday from which he has been eufferibg from catarrh for quiie awhile.

Brother Wilson ^ill preach at the Christian church the fifth Sunday in this month. Everybody is invited to attend this meeting.
