0. H. Qulliher, the man who was injured in the slide for life accident laet week, was on the street Wednesday in rags and tatters and painted face advertising certain wares. He unfortunately took on too large a jag and along about noon became noisy and profane. While he was at his noisiest the police came along and bounced him oft' to the lockup with no more consideration than if he had been a common plug and not the scknowl edged nepbew of Buffalo Bill.
Opinions of rwu U-in oc ratio Papers. Plymouth Democrat: Governor James A. Mount, saya the Logansport Pharos in which we concur, is an honest executive and his administration has been a successful one. He haa been guided by pure motives in the discharge of his duties and has manifested a deep concern for all the people of the commonwealth whose servant he is. He has treated hiB political opponent with kindliest consideration. His demeanor as a public official has been dignified, yet wholly devoid of display. His chief ambition has been to serve the people faithfully and conscientionsly. Those who have closely watched his course will concur in there observations.
Charles E. Lacey is Blowly recovering from the effects of an accident that came ne? to putting an end to his life. He was in the house by himself Monday night, his family being away from town, and concluded to take Borne calomel tablets that were in a closet. He took down what was presumably the box and swallowed four of the tablets. In a short time he became aware that he had taken the wrong stuff and on investigation was horrified to find that he had taken four morphine tablets, enough to kill two men. He hastily telephoned for a doctor and began to work with himself while awaitiDg the arrival of the physician. Mr. Lacey was fast on the down grade when tbe doctor came and it was only by the most radical treatment that his life waB saved. He suffered considerably Tuesday but is in better form now.

COPY-BOOK OBJECTIONS.
Books Contracted for for Indiana Vol Satisfactory.
A committee of the atate board of education has found the new copybooks, contracted for by the board, to be, "in their present form, unsatisfactory and not suited for adoption in the public schools of this state." The committee thus reporting has been discharged and its report spread of record, although it WBB not accepted, and a new committee, with state superintendent Jones at its head, has been ap. pointed to see that further correetiona are made in the books before they are put into use in the aehools.
There has not been unanimity of opinion on the copy booka that haa been manifest in regard to the other kinds of books. When the board decided to contract with Baton & Oo. for the books a minority of the board objected atrongly to the vertical system of writing. The committee was appointed and agreed to ask the copy book firm to make several corrections, among which was the shortening of some sentences, better punctuation and some changes in cartain letters, The greatest objection, however, was made to the appearance of the copies, tbe committee requesting the company to have the copies engraved instead of photographed. "ij
It was thought that these changes had been made, but an examination of books sent to the board and said to be of the regular edition, showed that there were yet mistakes to which some of the members of the board made objection.
The contract between the board and the copy-book company sets forth that the copy-books shall be satisfactory to the board in every particular, and that books must be furnished within ninety days after the board makes requisition for them. Tne board hjts made requisition for the books, and it has also found them unsatisfactory, and the question now is, when can the corrections be made and the books placed, as corrected, in the ecbool&?
The state superintendent, it 1b understood, will require that the uncorrected copy-books be excluded from the schools. If any changes have to be made in the books, making necessary the printing of an entirely new edition, it may be that the children of the public schools of the state will not -be able to use the new copy-books for some months. It is thought highly probable that the superintendents of some of the counties will lay the question of u-iing the uncorrected copybooks before the state superintendent, who will then make his ruling.

The Indiana regiments and batteriea that took part In the three days' battles at Ohickamauga were as follows:
Infantry regiments The Sixth, Ninth, Tenth, Seventeenth, Twentyninth, Thirtieth, Thirty-first, Thirtysecond, Thirty-fifth, Thirty-aixth, Thirty-seventh, Thirty-eighth, Fortysecond, Forty-fourth, Fifty-eighth, Sixty-eighth, Seventy-seoond, Seventyfourth, Seventy-fifth, Seventy-ninth, Eighty-second, Eighty-sixth, Eighty* seventh, Eighty'eighth, One-hundred-and first, Cavalry, Second, a battalion of the Third, Fourth batterieB Fourth, Fifth, Seventh, Eighth, Eighteenth (Lilly's), Nineteenth, Twenty-first.
Among those who will be at Ohickamauga will be Gsn. Qeorge F. Dick, of Bloosnlngton, 111., who was colonel of the Eighty-sixth Indiana, but in command of a brigade during the great three days' battles. His brigade, in which the Forty-fourth and Eightyaixth Indiana were the first infantry engaged, and went into action on Friday afternoon, Sept. 18, 1868, in support of Wilder's brigade on the Lexington bridge road. The assistance of this brigade to Wilder's brigade prevented Bragg's forces from gaining the Liafayette road. By that engagement Thomas and McOook were enabled to get their forces in line for the opening of the battle on the morning of Che 19th, and prevented Bragg from getting between the army of Bosecranz and Chattanooga.
There will also be delegations from Illinois and Oaio, especially from the troops that were with Wilder's bri gsde.

Monday night the horses attached to a cab ran off in the north end of town and finally stopped by running into the residence, of Mrs. William Eadicutt. The tongue of the cab was jibbed through the side of the house and struck a large bureau, throwing it across the room and smashing it. The bureau in falling upset a stove, and the whole pile fell upon tbe bed occupied by one of the Eadicutt boys, that young maa narrowly escaping death, the bed being broken down Tbe entire interior of the room waB wrecked in thiB peculiar manner.
