Elder Powell will about the first of September retire from the pastorate of the Christain church and will probably be succeeded by Eldar Wm. Warbritton, of Covington, Ohio.

We can not see why the city government should suspend its laws and turn everything over to the lowest class of Chicago slums evpn for a week's good business for the Crawfordsville business men. What is a week's good business compared to a week's iniluence of such a crowd a£ was there last year.

Stephen Cline has purchased James Mitchell's property. Mr. Mitchell will move to Anderson.
The concert given by the JameBtown band every Saturday night is a drawing card for the town.
Pater Fudge, of Ladoga, waB here Tuesday and arranged to come in on the Home teleohone company's switch board with a direct line from Ladoga.
The Danville telephone line was connected with the line here Monday, and we are now in touch with Crawfordsville on the west, and Indianapolis on the east bv way of Danville.

T. S. Clark, of Crawfordsville, drove through here Wednesday. Mrs. T. A. Adkins is still very ill with nervous prostration.
Several New Ross people attended the circus at Crawfordsville Friday. New Ross is now without a saw mill. This i.-, a good location for a good mill. 'v

Marshall Canada sold a part of the Midland property last Tuesday. Tom Hayter purchased it.
Bob Hamilton has purchased the two story building on the K. of P. lot and will tear it down next week.
The I. O 0. F. have received the lot markers from Veedersburg. They are now being put in position in the new cemetery.
A band stand is to be erected over the well at the corner of Main and State streets. The New Ross band will give concerts there Saturday evenings.
Wheat threshing will soon be finished. The crop is light but of fair quality. The corn is in finecondition. The hay harvest is progressing. The peach crop will be light but apples and peas will be plentiful. The blackberry crop is coming in, selling at 15 cents per gallon.
Complaint is being made that some small boys are destroying gardens and taking fruit frrm trees without the owner's consent. Prosecution is threatened if this continues These same boys make undue demonstrations on the streets after nightfall, yellii.g and cursing. This is a nuisance that should be stopped The other evening a gentleman hparing the noif=e exclaimed, "Curfew shall not. ring tonight!"
