Mrs Lucy Kinkado and Mrs.' Anna Welch attended the birthday dinner at, Mrs Thomas Hick's last Tuesday. It being such a bad day there wasn't many present, but there was enough to have a splendid dinner and a fine time. Mrs Hicks got several useful presents.

Robert Lockridge, of Raccoon, oi'd
ridge was an exteusive stock iiealer and farmer. He probably farmed and cultivated more land than any man in Putnam county. Mr. Lockridge was about seventy-one yearn old fie leaves a wife and seven errown children and a host of friends to mourn the )o=-s The funeial services were held at Raccoon church Wednesday at ten o'clock, interment at Greenoastle cemetery. Mr Lockridge- was a member of the M. E church at Raccoon.

George CoouS & Co. have made 200 gallons of maple molasses, James Gilliland has made 125 gallons, George Davis has made 125 gallons, and Charley Ramsey has made 100 gallons, so everyone on the creek is sweet.
While Will Lavson and Walker Ram sey were on their way to town Saturday to attend the examination their horse became frightened and ran off, throwing them out of the buegy. They were not hurt but were 'mud all qver and the shafts were broken

Mrs. Alice Buxton, wife of Willard Buxton, dropped dead at their residence, one mile east of Wingate, Tuesday about noon of heart failure while engaged in her utual household duties'. A couple of old Ohio friends had just called and Mr. Buxton bad just returned from the barn when Mrs. Buxton, in walking across the room, received a heavy fall and was never more conscious, but expired in her husbind's arms in a few minutes. She leaves a husband and five children who are sadly bereft by this suHdon deathMrs Buxton was born in Ohio May 11, 1842 She was married to Mr. Buxton in 1875, and came hew. With ihep husband sixteen years aero, She. has been a Christian from childhood and. was a good woman, a devoted Wife and mother. Tbei sugar camps on Governor Mount's two farms have yielded 190 gallons of molasses. Chas. Butler superintends the work and the molasses is made by an improved evaporator.
One of our worthy blacksmiths, Wm. Camden, of Shannondale, is making preparations to move to Ladoga in the near future.
