Will Layne, wifeaud daughter made a visit to the capitol Saturday to spend Christmas with Mr. Layne's sister.
James M. Warren and Miss Eva Clossin were married Saturday evening. Our last girl has left us for better or worse.
There was a good attendance at the Christmas entertainment at Otterbein. A nice programme and good order. Charley Martin did his part well. All went away well satisfied.
HICKORY GROVE.
Christmas in this neighborhood was very quiet. The Wring Neck rabbit hunters killed 00 rabbits.
J. P. Thompson has visitors from Indianapolis this week. The surprise on Fred Hitch Saturday evening was a success.
Hog buyers were in this neighborhood buying hogs at S3.15. The entertainment at Goben school had a large attendance.
Fern and Ethel Weliver, of Darlington, are visiting Mr. Phelps. The protracted meeting will begin at Young's Chapel next week.
The funeral of G. W. Hutton took place Monday at Young's Chapel. The quails being nearly exterminated will be protected by the law soon.
A. L. Simpson and family are expected back from California in the spring.

Will Merrill, Mr. Pattison and Geo. Fowler moved this week. George Vancleave and wife, of Wingate, visited here the first of the week.
Dock Sweeney,of VeederBburg, visited his uncle, Wintford Sweeney, here laBt week.
Wright Alexander had a Christmas tree at his home for his children and 'grandchildren.
George Widener, L. M. Coons and Wintford Sweeney took their hogs to the city Monday.
James Sanders entertaineed his children and their families Saturday night at an oyster supper.
Mrs. Sarah Cawan had a Christmas tree ftt her houee Saturday night, Jas. Quick and family being present.
Misses Sarah and Jennie Walden, of Black Creek, were the guests of their cousin, Miss Fannie Sweeney, Tuesday and Wednesday.
Last week was a great week for weddings. John C. Utterbaok and Miss Keys were married in Orawfordsville Wednesday, and the same evening at 7 o'clock at the home of Henry Dazey, two miles north of Elmdale, Marcus lowers and Miss Minnie Dazey were married by Rev. Jakes, in the presence of 75 cuests. The bride received many .handsome presents. Mr. Bowers and wife will make their home this winter with the father of the groom.
The reunion of Ralph Vancleave's family took place at his daughter's, Mrs. Stillman Goff's, on Christmas day, about forty beine present. All came with well filled baskets and at noon partook of a feast of good things A Christmas ladder had been arranged for the children and H. T. VaDcleave acted as Santa Claus and distributed a number of handsome presents. The next reunion will bo at John R. Vancleave's. Those present from out of

Our postmaster returned five tie sacks Monday morning that came in Saturday evening full of Christmas presents.
Our merchants report a big trade Saturday: some of them the largest sales ever reached in any one day since in business.
Our K. of P. brethren gave a social Wednesday evening in their hall in honor of: their twelfth anniversary Many distinguished visitors were present and a good social timb was had.
Through the efforts of Chas. Schon of Sugar Creek township, a petition has been forwarded the postoffice de partment asking that a rural route be established from this office running north and east some 22 miles. He had obtained 130 signers.
Our boys had a big rabbit hunt on Wednesday, Gertie Bowers as captain on the east and Newt Boots on the west, the losing side to furnish an oyster supper to the crowd. As the rabbits when counted would only fur nish the crackers if sold in a good market, each side is claiming that all are not in yet and claiming more time, so that the end is not yet.

Last Saturday John Ccwpton, wife and daughter gave their annual Christmas dinner and numerous presents to their relatives of the community.
Preparations are being made by some of the young people at this place to give a play entitled "Josiah's Courtship." The date will be given later.
Willard McSpadden and daughter, Urcie, Mattie Goble and Mr. Armour, of Silverwood, passed Tuesday evening with Andrew Campbell and family.
Andrew Campbell and wife were admitted to the Music Hall stage last Saturday. Their purpose was to examine stasre scenery with a vieW to purchasing for the Alamo hal).

Warner Peterson recently received a letter from Lavice Golliday, who is with the company at Manila. He says the weather ia very warm. They have plenty to eat and no fighting.
