LOAD your gun for the campaign liar.

FRANCE is no longer worthy of the name of Republic it is a military despotism,

SOUND money, or cheap money, which will you have? ,i§}That is the question to be settled on (November 8.

WHAT was it the Democrats said against the Dingley tariff? Have not heard them say anything? cStrange, inexplicable!

IT will be rather difficult to interest the people in currency expansion as long as the tread is BO strong in favor of territorial expansion.

OLD Spain is making her last stand against Uncle Sam, who pities her sufficiently in her weakness to have considerable patience^with her.

THE United States peace commissioners are not giving satisfaction to the Democratic campaign managers. Neither are they coming up to the anticipations of Spain.

Now that it has been disclosed that Ool. Bryan has not aBked to be discharged, perhaps some of his over zealous friends may be induced to di9pedal their indignation.

THINGS have come to a pretty pass when a Methodist official board cannot meet in the church to discuss the affairs of the iconference year without being accused of conspiring to buy votes.

THE JOUKNAL has no election eve lies to tell at the expense of Democratic candidates. It even refrains from caustic truths. The policy of defamation of candidates is a dishonorable one and THK JOURNAL'S policy is to present issues rather than to circulate bad stories.

THE breaking down of all their chargeB against Secretary Alger is the cause of the sudden disappearance of that gentleman's name from the columns of many papers that used to be studded with it. So it goes. Much noise about anything is the substance of the political columns of Democratic newspapers.

THE Cubans are determined to be not only free, but independent as well, and that in short order. Patience, gentlemen, it is our duty to see first if you are capable of being independent, and the less hurry and impatience you display, the shorter will be the period of probation.

You must get your ballots and the blue pencil of the polling clerks in the election room.

There will be three ballots. The state ballot on red paper, the county ballot on white paper and the town' ship ballot on yellow paper.

To vote a straight Republican ticket make a cross, thus x, within the large circle at the head of the ticket and no other place. This circle has the eagle in it.

To vote a mixed ticket, do not mark in the large circle at head of the ticket, but make a cross, thus X, on the small square to the left of the name of each candidate for whom you desire to vote.

In marking your ballot use only the blue pencil handed to you by the polling clerk. Do not try to stamp the ticket with the pencil.

The ballots must be folded separate' ly and folded so that the initials of the poll clerk on the back of the bal' lot shall show. Prepare one ballot and fold it before preparing the next. In this way you will avoid mistakes.

THE auditor of Montgomery county handles the 'school fund of $175,000. A responsible and trusty man should be in this place. A Republican auditor and a Republican board have reduoed the county debt from a bonded debt of $75,000 and a floating debt of over 89,000, to a total debt of 828,000. This has been done in less than three years and has been done with a constantly decreasing tax levy.

GEORGT HCLTZ, the Republican candidate for sheriff is a young man who deserves the support of every Republican in the county. He is self made, a hard worker, eminently competent, and strictly honest.

A VOTE for a Democratic candidate this election is a vote to put a feather in the cap of Charles E. Davis.

THE Republicans have always got the worat of it in trading. Don't do it this year.

INSTRUCTIONS TO VOTERS.

It will be well to note the following instructions, as the law has been changed since the election of two years ago!

TIIE JOURNAL, has indulged in none of that silly business known as campaign lying. It is a dishonorable as well as out-of date weapon. And besides it keeps us busy exposing the falsity of the opposition party's tales and telling the good reasons why the Republican policy and ticket, both national and local, should be supported. Therefore we are justified in asking that all stories detrimental to the Republican candidates which are sprung at this late day be utterly discredited.

THE dark lantern methods of the Damocratic campaign committee are strongly illustrated by an attempt to defeat Chairman Babcock for re-elec-tion to the bouse of representatives, in which body he fills the very important position of chairman of the committee on the District of Columbia. At one of the meetings of the Central Labor Union, in the midnight hour when all the bad spirits are presumed to get in a good deal of work, and when that meeting had been deserted by about everybody except a small number of conspirators, a well-known professional labor leader offered a set of resolutions calling upon the voters in Mr. Babcock's district to "turn him down" because he is opposed to the franchise in the District of Columbia, (as are two-thirds of its inhabitants), and because he is charged with being au enemy of labor. The resolution was rushed through and the mover rushed out with it, affixed the name of the president and secretary of the Central Labor Union to it without their knowledge and consent, then rushed to the Democratic headquarters and the Democratic committee secretly had 25,000 copies printed for distribution. But the scheme leaked, the Central Labor Union took the matter up, appointed a committee to investigate the charges, and that investigating committee reported and stated that Mr Habcock had been a consistent friend of labor, and pointed to several important succetsful efforts of his in their behalf. The Central Labor Union adopted this report and censured the conspirators.
