Last Thursday night a number of young people gathered at the home Albe'rt and Bertha Dunbar. The even ing was spent in having a jolly good time and all stayed until quite a late hour.
At the pleasant country home of Milton Stuckey quite a number of young people were invited to attend the parly given there Saturday night. They came at an early hour and took part in tne good oid party plays. All seemed to have a pleasant time and went away wishing the evening had not passed away so rapidly. Those present were: Misses Maud Brannigan, Sylvia liarshbarger. Laura and Xora Tribbett. Maud Cooley, Rosa llayos, Mina Michaels. Georgia Funk, Sallie McAbee. Clara Burkhart and Lula Booker: Messrs. Yernie Booker, Arthur Cray. Verge Edwards. Tom Simpson, Walter Long. Alva and Arley Hayes, George Cook. Hunt Dean. William Peterson. Joe Rice, Earl Peterson ami G. McAbee. They had excellent music during the evening. Will Stuckey played the piar,o, Milton the violin and Gov. alcAbee picked the banjo.

The children's day exercises at the ChristiiU church Sunday night were quite a success. The, church was crowded and all were well entertained by the children.
The commencement exercises of the Jackson township schools were held here Thursday uijrht at the M. E church. There were twenty-five p'raduates. Music was furnished by the Tamestown mandolin club.
A weddinp which interested a large number of Jamestown people, occurred at the home of the bride's pareuts on Wednesday evening at o'clock, when Miss Ada Dollie Clements and Bow Majors were married by Elder Muse, pastor of the Christian church. Only elatives and intimate friends were present. The bride was simply and daintily gowned in white silk. After the ceremony refreshments were served.

Jesse, Morrison's family have been called to George Myers' who diedTues day morning. He was Mrs. Morrison's father. The funeral was preached by L. E. Murray, of Ladoga, at 0 o'clock Thursday. Interment at the family grave yard known as the silvers grave yard.

Henry Stearns and family, of Hillsboro, visited Mrs. Temple Sunday. Clarence Long and family, of Indianapolis, have concluded a visit at C. Snyder's.
Sherman Mull and family moved to IToopeston, 111., Thursday to work in a canning factory.

Lightning struck the residence of I. M. Bedell on Saturday afternoon last, shocking Mrs. Bedell severely. Damages to the house were slight.
Arrangements are being made to hold a great union meeting in the woods just south of town, commencing on the third Friday in July and lasting over Sunday. Mrs. Martha \Vade doing the preliminary work.
Children's day was duly celebrated at the M. church by a long programme on Sut.day evening, livery child did well and if it had not been for the crowded condition of the house and extreme heat it would have been a very enjoyable aft'air.

A gravel bank has been discovered on the farm of John Ammerman. a half mile from town. We hope now that we will now have some graveled streets.
Last Sunday John Smith and wife gave a surprise dinner in honor of their daughter Maggie's ISth birthday. Those present were Clair Yanduyn and wife and Misses Goldie Hancock and Frcie McSnadden.

Ernest Bogen. the boy that was shot a few days ago east of this place is getting along as well as can be expected. His parents had him moved home to Colfax last week.
William Henry Harrison Epps died June 13, 1S97, aged fifty-three years He was born in east Tennessee Feb. 20, 1S44. In 1SG1 he enlisted in the rebellion and served faithfully until its close. In 1S73 he came, to Indiana and was married to Miss Sarah Jane Swank, to them one son being born who is still living. She died March IS, 1S7C). He was married again on March 0, 1SS4 to Miss Eliza Francis Coolney and to them were born two children, a daughter and a son. The funeral was conducted by Rev. Shanklin. of Linden, at the residence. Interment, at Peterson cemetery.

A hack load of Rathbone Sisters visited the Crawfordsvilie Sisters Tuesday night. We wish them success in their work.
The Knights of Pythias had their! memorial exercises at the Christian church last Sunday. The work was well done and the order is to be complimented. Jere West, Chancellor Commander of DeBayard Lodge, No. 3*.), K. of P., at Crawfordsvilie, delivered the address, and those who heard it said it was excellent. At o'clock p. the Knights went in a body to the cemeteries, first to Indian Creek Hill cemetery and thence to Oak Hill.
