Mrs. C. S. Itaeon and son have returned to their home in Grand Rapids, Mich., aftera visit here with the family of C. N. Holden. —Miss Mayhew. formerly of this city and more recently of New ork, has returned here to reside anil is acting as clerk in the oHice of her uncle, Justice S, A. Stilwell. —Joy Uutton of Buffalo, N. Y„caine in last week on a visit to his parents Joy is holding down a good position as chief bookkeeper in a large wholesale house. He will be here about ten days.

Miss Pearl Adkins is on the sick list this week. Isaac Golliday wasat'the county seat Wednesday.

Teachers wiM attend institute at Mace Saturday. W. P. Peterson was in Mace Tuesday and Wednesday.

Miss Emma McVey has been on the sick list this week. The Midland had a bad wreck Sunday near Penobscot.

Nathan Thompson went to Crawfordsville Wednesday. Grandma Whitely went to Advance Thursday to visit her son.

Bob Rodgers has moved to Nathan Thompson's farm in Boone county. Wallace Gott and wife returned to their honfe at Greencastle last, Tuesday.

Mesdames Maggie Mclntyre and Vinnie Duke were at Indianapolis Friday.

Yora McLaughlin has rented a farm in Hendricks county and moved this week.

Mr. and Mrs. .las. Mclntyre and daughter, Lizzie, were'at Indianapolis Friday.

Mrs. Anna Gardner visited her daughter, near Jamestown, the first of the week.

Mrs. Thomas I'ovvell is recovering from the surgical operation performed not long ago.

Wm. Mount and family attended the inaugural ceremonies of his brother at Indiadapolis Monday.

The Mericley Company, of Illinois, will give a musical and elocutionary entertainment at the Christian church Friday and Saturday evenings of yiis week. Everybody invited. Admission 10 and 20 cents. The company comes under the auspices of the Ladies' Aid Society.

Frank Stewart, of Frankfort, was here Tuesday buying stock. Seybold it Co. have placed a large elevator in their new room.

The county commissioners took dinner at the Peterson Monday. Quartely meeting at the M. E. church Saturday and Sunday.

The farmers are hauling their corn to the elevator at ltc per bushel. Rev. Rayle is holding protracted meeting at Potato Creek church.

John Guntle, aged 7i years, says he never yet has seen or felt the need of glasses to assist his eyes.

Mort Edwards and John Fletcher, of Mace, were here the first of the week and bought a few good- horses.

Dr. 1. E G. Naylor is new writing some good articles on the "Devil" for the Echo. He i6 full of his snbject.

Rev. O. E Kelly is carrying his arm in a sling, the result of stopping too suddenly in leaving a ear at the depot.

The ladies of the M. E. church will issue a paper next week edited by them and containing short sketches of the different churches here in town. They should receive a liberal patronage.

S. K. Blue thinks the millinium is near at hand as his neighbors after cribbing his corn came Rack this week and done him the tinest job of butchering he ever had done. Hi now thinks heaven is near his neighborhood.

Clifford Smith has the measles. Aaron Douglas, of New Market, was here last week.

The cash dry goods store is now run by Appleby A Son Wm Ralston, of Fountain icounty, was here Saturday night.

C. E Applegate. Sherman Mull and Jake Shroyer are on the sick list. Kerr it Grenard have shipped five car loads of cattle the past week.

Ira Meharry returned to Indianapolis Saturday to attend business college. John Calhoun and wife have returned from a week's visit with friends in Attica.

Elder L. Buckles, of Lafayette, presided at the quarterly meeting at Shawnee church last week.

Mrs. L. P. Britton and son Leland and Miss Mollie Sullivan, of Frank I'ort, are visiting here this week.

Mrs. Lydia Wingate went to Indianapolis last Saturday to attend the inauguration of Goveruer Mount.

I. N. Meharry has sold the walnut timber off twentv acres of land to Mr. Finch, of Frankfort, for SI,300.

Henrv Sterns and wite, of Llill uro, have been spending a few days with the latter's mother. Mrs Temple.

J. M. Bedell has sold property to J. 10. Bannon? vho will take possession the lirst of March.

Philip Allen, Harry Deeter, Mart Clark and Walter lirown went to Indianapolis Monday to attend the inauguration.

J. C. Wingate has been at Indianapolis the past two weeks helping to boom General Wallaee for the I'nited States Senate.

James Wainscot, Sr., while cutting wood on Frank Cotlrel's farm Tuesday last accidently struck his ankle with a maul and will be confined to his loom for some time.

Did anybody ever see such a conglomeration of eveats so jumbled up and promiscuously thrown together as Linden put into the history of old Ebenezer Church last week.

The Christian Sunday school elected the following otlieers last Sunday: J. S. Henry, Supt Charles Webb, Asst. Supt.: Edith Cord, See.: Jessie, Beedle, Asst. Sec.: Guy Hass. Treas.: Eva Haas, Organist: Maulie Galey, Asst. Urganist.

The historic old Meharry Camp Ground, where we were accustomed to assemble together so often for the past forty years, is now being despoiled by the wcodman with his ax, who will not even spare a sinirle tree. A erop of corn will be raised or it ,next. season.

On Sunday evening last' as Nelsou Carter and Miss Emma Little were returning from Shawnee church his horse became unmanageable and ran away and threw them to the ground. No damatre being done except tearing the top off the buggy and breaking the cross bar out. breaking Mr. Carter's nose and skinning Miss Bettie's face and finning over Johnny Henry and knocking him into a state of inocuous desiutude.
