Miss Carrie Sibel has returned to Torre Haute where she is attending school, after spending her vacation with E. C. Campbell.
Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Moore, of Chicago, spent Christmas with H. S. Messer and family, Mrs. Moore will remain a few weeks visiting friends.
Mark Alexander, who is traveling with the Maggie Breyer Theatrical company was home Sunday. The company expects to play a return date here soon.
Snyder & Thompson played "Old Santa" Christmas, giving a treat to every child that came into their store that day. It is needless to state that they did a rushing business.
The funeral of Mrs. Cynthia Phillips who died at Linden on the 25tb, Was held at the Christian church Saturday at 11 o'clock a. m. interment being at the New Richmond cemetery. She was the mother of George Phillips of this place.

Wright Alexander had a family Christmas tree at his house Christmas night. It was loaded down with valuable presents. The family received S100 worth of presents and all had a good time.
Most all of the schools closed last Thursday for the holidays. Andy Foley, who is teaching at Oakland, had to miss so much on account of diphtheria that he thought it best not to •Sive any vacation.
Ralph Vancleave and wife made a dinner Christmas for their children. All partook of the many good things that had been prepared for them. The evening was spent by the boys in seeing who was the best shot with a target riile.
Eld. Miller, of Waynetown, preached at the Baptist church here Saturday at 11 o'clock, Sunday at 11 o'clock and Sunday night at 7 o'clock. The congregation was large Sunday morning and evening. There were four accessions to the church.
John Hayes and wife made a dinner Christmas. Those present were: Buck Grimes and family, Ehvood Swank and family, Tip Clough and family, Dock Olin and family, Lee Hayes and family, Ben Swank and wife. They had a Christmas pond and the little folks had lots of fun fishing their presents out of the pond.

This world is all a fleeting show, so said Mrs. Ellen Guntle as she bade her1 family goodbye and swallowed the fatal powder and laid herself down to die. The family enmasse came after Drs. Coffman and Stout, who went post haste to the scene and made the astounding discovery that she had taken pure wheat iiour. She is now resting easy.
Darlington Lodge No. 150, K. of 1' celebrated their tenth anniversary Monday night. Although purely local it was one of the finest little gatherings ever held in our town. Several good speeches were made by the brethren, a good lunch was served and a good social time was had. But the finest affair of the evening was an exhibition drill as given by the ltathbone SiBters, their officer drill and team drill being especially fine. The la,dies did themselves great credit on this occasion and will no doubt rebound to the good of their order.

The children of G. G.and V. C. Myers made a surprise dinner on their parents, which was well executed and enjoyed by all present and will long be remembered by both parents and children. Straughan Davis has anew repeating rifle. The bears and other large game would do well to keep out of his way.
The Christmas tree at the school house was a grand success. The declamations by the children were very nice and all acquitted themselves creditably. The tree was loaded down with presents, there being 500 on it ranging in value from five cents to SI 5, the total value, of them being about S250.
