Robert Weeks.

On Thursday of last week the friends of Robert Weeks were shocked to hear of his death at Indianapolis. A short time previous it had been the painful duty of his friends to remove him to the asylum for the insane, to be treated for cerebral trouble, but acute meningitis soon developed, which in a few days resulted in his death.

It may be truly said that Robert Weeks was a self made man. In his early youth he determined to acquire an education. After completing the course of study in the common schools, he by persistent effort and strict economy secured sufficient means to enable him to enter school at Valparaiso. Here he remained until he had completed the scientific course. Saving returned he for two years held the principalship of th^ Whitesville school. But aspiring to still greater mental attainments, he, in the spring of 1894. entered Wabash College. Here his upright character wou friends for him among both students and instructors. He had pursued bis studies less than a

DRESS GOODS.

por it demands our strongest expressions to describe existing conditions in our Dress Goods Department. We prefer to speak of style and low prices as the distinctive feature, as the stock is crowded with the most exclusive and commendable stuffs in the world. But the price appeal is stronger just now. Our Dress Goods stock is a marvel of half-price, beauty, style and worth. Investigate it for yourself.

CLOAKS.

A well-dressed woman is an impossible climax without a well-fitting coat. Remember, your cloak makes or mars a graceful outfit. Some cloaks are made to pass muster 'till sold. After that Our Cloaks are custom-made. We stand back of every one of them. There is a style and sturdiness, dash and beauty, to them that few garments have! But the catchy thing of all is our reasonable prices. A perfect willingness to give you beauty, worth and wear at almost a wholesale price.

year and a half when death brought an untimely end to his bright career.. His demise has caused a blight to fall upon his family and deep sorrow upon the entire community. His name was everywhere synonomous of honesty and steadfastness of character. To know him was to respect him. He had within him the true spirit of manhood. He loved frankness, despised hypocrisy, and deceit was foreign to his nature. No taint ever attached itself to his name, no slanderous tongue ever assailed his spotless integrity of character. To associate with him was a pleasure, to lose him was a calamity. Words are powerless to express the intense grief felt by the family and friends at his sudden removal. He stood out bold and prominent among his fellow men, marked by strong personality and integrity of purpose. Though slow to act, still when once he had defined his course he pursued it with unyielding constancy until his object was attained.

It has pleased Divine Providence to take from us this noble-hearted young man. And we can but hope that in the life beyond the grave he may enjoy the glory and peace which he so well merited in his brief stay here on earth.

Death is always horrible, and when it deprives the world of a man like Robert Weeks, its horrors are but increased by the sterling worth and faultless value of its victims.

He had the greatest hopes and the loftiest ambitions for the future. And had his life been spared the world could only have profited by his living.

It has been well said that the setting of a great hope is like the setting of the sun. But alas, what intensity is added to the figure when life and hope sink together in the memories of the past.

The family of the deceased have the heart felt sympathies of all in their sad bereavement. A place has been left vacant in their home which never can be filled. And we can only cheer them with the thought that their grief at the loss of a beloved brother here may be doubly requited by meeting him in the Eternal Home.

Before you buy Fall Goods. There is going to be some fun at the Old Trade Palace and you had better be. there. Read this "ad." and don't forget it is worth heeding when you come to buy.

We laid the foundation of our Millinery superiority years ago, and each succeeding season has borne fruitful evidence of its further development, step by step forward, to the perfection of to-day. Customers, critics, artists, even cranks, pronounce our present display the most eye-delight-ing, heart-satisfying exhibition of artistic millinery under the sun.

Beauty and economy hand in hand, a wealth of loveliness and a poverty of price.

The kind of stockings your grandmother wore. She knit them herself. You would not wear them. You want them finer, handsomer just as durable, but much more sightly, and a better fit. Come here for them. We have them from 19c a pair up.

Silver threads among the gold. A flash of sunshine, a glimmering moonbeam, flowers flung by fairy hands, caught by the artist, fed to the flying loom, presto! it is silk. They are here. We have them. We describe them as our faucy paints them. But how under the sun the manufacturer is supported, the weaver and dyer are fed, duties met and transportation paid out of the price we ask for them, will astonish you when you price them, as it has already puzzled us!

Don't forget the above facts. The Trade Palace is chuck full of Fall and Winter Goods which we mean to cut out of our stock at once, which means bargains for our customers. Respectfully Yours,
