Quite a number from this vicinity attended children's day exercises at the Ladoga Christian church Sunday night.
Miss Emma Beck, of Elmdale, and Misses Ida °and Lizzie Weeks, of Walnut Chapel, visited at Dr. Mahorney's Friday.
Mrs. Mary Lidikay," from Kansas, with her mother, Mrs. Lydia Graybill, have been visiting relatives here the past week.
H. M. Barter, collecting agent for the Deering Binder Co., with his family, from Crawfordsville, visited friends here Sunday.
Dr. Mahorney was called to Waveland Monday in consultation with Dr. Kelso, of that place in the case of Mrs. C. L. Canine.
William Terry is often seen wending his way to the pleasant home of .1. M. Ilarshbarger. We know the entire family are unexcelled entertainers and we suppose C.1! their luring charms have enthralled William.
Monday being Frank Lawter's '.'.'id birthday, his sister. Mrs. Flora Clark, planned a pleasant surprise for him at her home Monday night in the way of a supper. About sixty invited guests were present. The supper was elegant, consisting of ice cream, lemonade and cake. All present spent a very pleasant evening. Mr. and Mrs. Clark are highlv entertaining1.
Thos. Knott and .los. Stunkard were in Clark's llill Sunday. Mrs. Sarah Payne and Jane Runday spent Sunday in Frankfort.
A Mr. Liscli, of Lebanon, has moved in the Durham property in Old Town. Mr. and Mrs. Dr. Cripe, of Frankfort, were visiting Mary Parish Sunday.

Two men were over from Ohio this week looking for a location for a hoop factory. They were favorably impressed.
We came very near having a horse fight at the fair grounds Tuesday. Charley McVey prevented it by separating them.
Misses Arietta Walker, of Terre Haute, and Elsie Weigel, of Mississippi, were the guests of Miss Mollie Walkup over Sunday.
Democratic candidates are not seen on the horizon. The Republicans have no opposition. It is needless to say you had as well remain at home.
The first and second ball teams gave up a well contested game of ball at the park Saturday. The first nine wiped the second nine out of all lienors. The score was 47 to 2.
Uncle Tom's Cabin played here Monday night to a large audience. The play was well presented and highly appreciated. Some people would complain if they saw the earth at one "•lance. ...

There are prospects of another real estate trade in town. The new saloon building is now ready for occupancy.
Messrs. Henry & Gott were in Warren county Tuesday. If reports be true we are to have another wedding here soon.
James Oxley and Wm. Doss were in Parke county a week ago. Dave Gerard and family, of Crawfordsville, were here Sunday.
The editor of the Linden Localizer was on our streets Thursday. A. W. Chilcote is laying a ninety foot walk in front of his residence.
Runvan & Folliek shipped two carloads of hogs to Indianapolis Friday. Baker McClure shipped a carload of stock to eastern markets Tuesday.
The little pamphlet entitled "What Congress has done"' was distributed here Wednesday.
Frank Davidson and family, of Crawfordsville, took dinner with his brother Mat. here Sunday.
Jesse Martin and Exom Pal in with their families took dinner with relatives at Attica Sunday.
Mrs. Wil Mick left here Wednesday evening for Marion to attend the burial of her daughter's infant child.
T. J. McDermott, of Indianapolis, was here this week for the purpose of organizing a temperance lodge.
Owing to the inclemency of the weather last Friday night Mr. Harlan's musical play was not well attended.
S. C. Crown has been circulating a petition to keep the new building by the side of his grocery from being occupied by a saloon.

The letter to the licviciv from this place last week contained two items, one saying that Decoration Day here was poorly observed. Our answer to you. Mr. lit view scribe, is, its an infamous lie. If you aimed the item you wrote to be the truth you were not at the church while the services were being conducted, and while the parade of people marched from one cemetery to the other, you were not to be seen.

Arrangements are being made to have the Christian Endeavor contest at the school house here next Saturday night, instead of at Bethel church.

We are to have two new iron bridge erected over Potato creek very soon, but not before they are needed, as the one west has been unsafe for a lonr time.

A jolly picnic was indulged in on last Sunday by three of the citizens of Sutton's Crossing, a prohibition village just south of here. Early in the day they loaded their pockets with corn juice and hied away to a grove nearby, where they might drink and be merry. But one of them being a man of family, his good wife became uneasy about her liege lord and went in search of him. thinking he might be drowned, as she thought him away fishing. And when she found him the poor fellow was so sick he did not recognize his faithful wife. But his recovery and reason was swift when he saw the tears coursing down her cheeks and then he registered a solemn vow that it is hoped he will forever keep.

We had a heavy frost Tuesday night. John Mines and family called on Dr. Olin Sunday.
Jake Surface and family visited his father, at Waynetown, last week. Everett Morrow and wife, of Wingate, were the guest of Dan Hauk Sunday.
Children's day will be observed at this place the fourth Sunday in this month.
Dan Hauk and Allen Moore are visiting friends and relatives in Benton county.
Billie Hunt, of Crawfordsville, was out Tuesday and surveyed some land for L. M. Coons.
Our threshing club met last week and contracted with Jake Surface to thresh our wheat.
James Quick an*d family spent last Saturday and Sunday with his sister, east of Crawfordsville.
Several are plowing their corn over the third time and it isn't out of the clods yet. It has been so cold for three weeks that corn has grown but little.
L. 0. Olen's daughter, Blanche, is very sick. She cut her foot on a piece of glass and blood poison has set it. She is in a critical condition, but is thought to be some better at present.
Quite a number from here attended the funeral of Tommie S. Patton at Mt. Pleasant Wednesday. There was a large concorse of people there, ISO vehicles being in the procession. He wsws liked and respected by all who knew him.

Wm. Johnson was the first Republican from Scott township ever placed upon a county ticket, and we will do our part to elect him.
We have a man who is working for his board, the only instance of the kind ever about here in the Summer Ask a Democrat the cause and he will not answer.
G. W. James went squirrel hunting last Saturday, and while in the pasture of Billy Smith he shot at a snake, and Smith soon appeared and invited the hunter to get off the farm.
Now the Republicans have brought out their ticket and have selected the best men in the county out of the best men the county had. We defy the Democratic party to beat the ticket.
The Fail-view detective company met, 011 Monday at the school house, in the regular quarterly meeting with a full membership present, and two new members. This is one of the. strongest companies in the county.
