As Dr. Northcutt was returning home from Linnsburg Tuesday night he was stopped by two masked men and told to give up his money. This he refused to do. He only had a nickel and a plug of tobacco.
Quite a sad accident occurred last Monday, as (!eo. Hunt was splitting wood, lie brought the heavy ax down with such alligator force that he split his toe in two instead of the stick of wood, lie was quickly removed to Crawfordsville and put under the care of Dr. Ristine. He is getting along as well as could be expected, but he says he don't care about his toe as he does about his shoe.

The question debated at the Yankeetown literary society meeting' last Tuesday night was. -'Resolved. That Religion Has Caused More Misery to the Jluman Race than War." The affirmative was ably represented by J. C. Francis and l'.renton Engle. The decision was for the •attirmative.

Jennie Tate is on the sick list with whooping cough. A tramp slept in the school house one right last week.
Hal Stonebreaker is working for Jackson McCormack. Miss Nettie Pickett has had a very sore hand for some time.
James Hunter took a load of hogs to Waynetown Wednesday. John Wykle and daughter, of Ohio, are visiting Marion Watson and wife.
Jim Smith and wife, of Alamo, visited their father William Smith, Wednesday.
Our gravel road is in bad condition and should be scraped in at first con venience.
Grace Sweeney, of Yountsville. was the guest of Mrs. Jackson McCormack over Sunday.
Robert Stubbins and wife visited their father and mother. Joseph Stubbins and wife. Wednesday.
Cicero Rrandon is have more than a little trouble to get possession of his little farm that he purchased lately.
If Hicks' predictions for the remainder of the month come up to the mark as they have this week we may look for rough weather.
Sugar making- is in full blast now and the steam of the furnace is raising day and night. A good time to have a roast, boys, or a "taffy pnlliir." i^The robins have returned, the squirrels are out, the buzzards are flying, and nature has brought in spring. Ere long the flowers will bloom, the bees come out, the birds pair off and nest, the plowman turn the sod and all nature will seem to say, "Work while you may."
On Monday of last week the Hibernia school took their dinners and went to visit and surprise the Bunker Hill school. They had a general good

spelled and cyphered. On Wednesday the Bunker Ilill school returned the visit and an increased good time ensued. They passed the afternoon in the same way with the addition of a. querv box and recitations. Several visitor came in at both places. The children will never forifet their trips.

Mr. Kincaid talks of learning telegraphy this spring. Bert Remlev talks of getting a bicycle this summer.
R. E. Dice and wife were in Crawfordsville Saturday. Vesta Coleman is hauling his summer's wood this week.
There is more moving here, this spring than common. John Finch and wife broke bread at Ilarve Morris' Sunday.
The seltzer and skyrocket peddler was seen here this week. Dick McCoy and wife, of Lebanon. Sundayed at E. Snarley's.
C. C. McClure will buy stock for Issac Sperry this summer. The big ditch will be put through as soon as the weather permits.
The Thompson A, Weaver Wire Co. have shut down, hard times. Franklin Shuey was severely bitten by a horse one day last week.

J. W. Wilson's cattle took a'trip for recreation last week and three are still missing.
Ed Stull is visiting his brother John this week and will probably work in this neighborhood this summer.
H. C. Shobe visited Indianapolis last week and brought homo three car loads of cattle which he intends feeding for the spring markets. •S. E. Horney, -Silas Peterson, Win. Hunt and Perry Rice stated to Buffalo with eleven carloads of stock last Friday.
Wm. Painter, of Linden, has bargained for J. T. Carrico's residence and blacksmith shop and will move here and follow his trade soon. Mr. Carrico will go to Dakota.
