Captain Nannie Huff, a well known and retired citizen of Yankee town, who has been a member of the Ananias Club at that place, lias g-iven up his place and all hopes of hearing from Washington City again and has gone to canvassing a county near Clifton Ford. Virginia, selling a'book of '-llow the News Carrier Got Kidnapped," forM r. Dunham, who lives in a little town by the name of Sliaiinondale. east of this place. Captain is a well known soldier who is now getting- too old to farm, therefore his friends think it best for him to canvass for books.

A move has been started to organize a reading circle which will certainly prove interesting as well as instructive.
Our saw mill, grist mill, elevator and stock buyers have paid to the farmers and laborers in the year 1S!3, in round numbers, $304,000.
Mrs. W. B. Mount is very sick and has been for some time. A trained oaurse has been brought frown Indianapolis to aurse her.
One little butcher shop shows by t&eir books that they have sold a little over §8,000 in meat from the block, and this is only one in three.
Quite a number came down from Frankfort Monday and drove over to Silas Peterson's to ott'er their sympathy to .their old pastor and wife.
Gveorge Seybold and family, of Waveland, visited John Peterson^ Saturday night. They were on their way to attend ithe funeral of Haven Slutz.

J. M. Ghormley, of Waveland, and W. W. Seawright, of Crawfordsvilie, are invoicing the remainder of the Butler it Hampton stock of hardware preparatory to selling the same to George Seybold, of Waveland.
Haven, the oldest son of Ilev. W. P. Slutz and wife and grandson of Silas Peterson, was buried in the Peterson cemetery last Monday. Haven was a bright beautiful boy of live summers and died at their home in Carthage. Mo., last Lriday. The bereaved parents have the sympathy of the entire community.
Ihe 1'armors' Institute has come and g-one and Darlington is the better bv its coming. While we have no apologies to offer we regret that our people did not more fully appreciate its
coming and be the better prepared, but when fully aroused to the fact 1 hat it was here ami needed their assistance all responded with a will, ami had the session lasted another day the largest room in town would have been far too small lor the crowd. Sugar Creek and Franklin townships will organize a branch institute of their own. We hope much good mav be accomplished, by their exchange of ideas.
