Here is a chance for the Crawfordsville Lund A' Improvement Company. The Heath Kail Joint Company, otMin- Motiullin neapolis, Minn., is seeking a new location and wants to come to Indiana. Natural gas is not required.

Electric Lights at the Shades. The company owning the Garland Dells are contemplating the advisibility of establishing an electric light plant at the Shades for lighting the glens and grounds. Wm. Deitricli, of Waveland, was in the city lay consulting wiLh Mayor Carr as to the probable cost of the undertaking.

Opposing Pony.

Pony Moody, the man whose high ambition iL is to start a saloon in Waveland, will not have things his own way. The application for a license will be acted on by the commissioners next Monday and by that time a big remonstrance will be prepared and signed by the business men of NVaveland.

Burglary at Linden.

On Feb. 20 at Linden the general store of O. D. Thomas was burglarized and a quantity of goods taken. .Besides the loose money, a revolver, some knives underclothing and it is supposed other things were carried oil'. The tliievesentered by taking a glass from the window and departing left no clew behind. The burglary is supposed to be the work of tramps.

Death of Mrs. Vileta Davis. Mrs. Vileta D.tvis, aged (i'.l years, died on Feb.tiG at 4. o'clock p.m. of lung] -ver at the home of her son. W. J. Davis, on south Washington street. The funeral on occurred Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock, conducted by Kev. G. W. Switzer. Mrs. Davis was an estimable lady of many noble attributes, and during her residence tu this city has made a circle of warm friends who extend to the bereaved family their sincerest syiniathv.

The jury commissioners met Tuesday morning and the Clerk drew the following juries for the March term. The grand jury will not be called unless in the case of tin emergency.

Taking out his knife he attempted to amputate his crushed and mangled limb but the knife was taken from him. He would utter terrible oaths and then cry out "God save me, Christ have mercy!" -1= *§lil "Prior to his removal to the saloon, and while yet on the platform tit the depot, ho was visited by our very worthy minister, R«v. Hargraves, who extended the unfortunate man the consolation of religion.

His brothers and only son having been summoned, were at his bedside, his sister and remaining brother not arriving until a few minutes after his death, then I ensued a eceno so affecting that it would touch with pity tho hardest of 1 1 hearts. The heart broken sister and one other woman in a saloon, surrounded I by rough men at the dead hour of mid-1 night, praying and weeping over the dead body of her unfortunate brother, 1 wits ti sad and pathetic sight that will not soon be forgotten.''
