local applications, as they cannot reach the diseased portion of the ear. There is only one ay ay to cure deafness, aud that is by constitutional remedies. Deafness is caused by tin inllamed condition of the mucous lining of the Eustachian Tube. When this tube gets intlamed you have a rumbling sound or imperfect hearing, and when it is entirely closed, Deafness is the result, aud unless the iniiammation can be taken out and this tube restored to its normal condition, hearing will be destroyed forever nine cases out of ten are caused by catarrh, which is nothing but an inflamed condition of the mucous surfaces. We will give One Hundred Dollars for any case of Deafness (caused by catarrh) that we cannot cure by taking Hall's Catarrh Cure. Send for circulars free.

The Coroner Holds No Our Responsible Tor tlie Deaths by tli« Kuriiinf the National Mu-gieal Institoto al Indiunapoli-.
Indianapoi.is, Ind., I'eb. 22.—Coroner Manker lias furnished the press with a copy of his verdict in the case of therecent .Surgical institute fire. The verdict is a complete whitewash, it is very voluminous and tills two columns of nonpareil. ]t finds that the nineteen victims of the institute, met their death 1-v suffocation anjl not by burning that all might have escaped but for their fright and cxcitemcnt that adequate means of protection and escape were provided that the police, fire department 'and employes of the institution did their whole duty in assisting the inmates to escape: that the management did not comply with the law requiring printed notices of the location of the lireeseapes and how to use them to be posted, but it was held that "the acquaintance and familiarity of inmates with the construction of the building probably obviated the necessity of this. The conclusion of the coroner is that the management furnished all reasonable appliances for protection and it is therefore held blameless.
AFTER DR. KEELEY.
Helntivcs of One of Ills Graduates Will hue for 0100,000 Damages.
New York, FeD. 20.—Now that the New York legislature has got after the bichloride of gold cure there seems to be trouble ahead for Keeley institutions from another source An evening paper says it is reported that the friends of Waltei B. Earle, a former patient, who died insane after undergoing the treatment and being discharged "cured" of his intemperate habits, are going to make it lively for the Keeley people. They claim that Earle's death was directly caused by the bichloride of gold treatment, and are making arrangements to bring an action for §100,000 damages against Dr. Keeley und his associates.

No healthy person need fear any dan gerous consequences from an attack of la grippe if properly treated. It is much the same as a severe cold and requires precisely the same treatment. Remain quietly at home and take Chamberlain's Cough Remedy as directed for a severe cold and a prompt and complete recovery iB sure to follow. This remedy also counteracts any tendency of la grippe to result in pneumonia.
