DEMOCRATIC DAY.
An Immense Crowd anil a Long l'roeession. After a month's hard and untiring work, the Democrats succeeded iu bringing to the city a large crowd of people. Every township was largely represented, besides the great numbers from the adjoining counties that helped to swell the surging mass. Each township had its full quota of tloats, and the different, organizations 011 horseback, on foot and in vehicles made a procession one of respectable length. Those who timed it report that it was forty minutes in passing a given point. It was the largest that lias been made in this city t', several cam]aign.s and our Democratic friends, of course, feel excusably jubilant over the success which has clowned their efforts. After parading the principle streets which were lined with interested spectators, both Republicans and Democrats, the procession drew up at the fair grounds, where the crowd was addressed by Hon. John 1*. frish. I of California. The dav demonstration will close to-night with a speech by
Hon. John E. Lamb.
Ivvcr pi.
Gov. Gray, John C. Black, of Illinois, and Hon. John P. Irish, of California, spoke yesterday at the great Democratic rally in Crawfordsville. About 35,001) people were present, and the prix'ession was one hour ill passing tin reviewing stand.—Lafayette Times.
The above is all right except that Gov. Gray and Gen. John C. Black, of Illinois, and '25,OIK) of the :Vi.000 people were not here, and the procession was only forty-five minutes in passing 11 given point.

A patty of American gentlemen Who had been camping out on an island in the great Lake. Xi pissing. Canada. last Summer, were returning in a sail boat and were yet seven miles from port when the sun went down, and with it the sailing breeze.
A discouraging situation, truly- ,v: •'Never mind, I can row you there inside of two hours." said the guide who had charge of the party as theii murmurs arose. "Why, man, it is seven miles, there are four of us in this heavv boat—it is a big job you undertake." .said one. "No matter, I have done the like before and can do it. again," cheerfullv re plied the broad-shouldered Irishman as lie stowed away the sail and bent to the lours, lb- was a 'splendid oarsman and the boat was soon under headway again. "What would 1 not give to enjoy your health and strength," remarked the proI lessor. "Yes I nm pretty healthy, and though
I am past rixty I feel as strong as ever." replied the guide. "But only three years ago I stood at death's door, and never thought to pull an oar again. You see I was in the woods all Winter, logging, nnd I got into the water one day and caught cold. If settled on my lungs and I had a bad cough which hum: on till I ran down almost to a skeleton." "Call in a physician." "Yen, I went twenty miles through the bush to see a doctor: ho gave me some medicine, but it didn't help me much." "How was the cure effected'.'" "An old Scotch ladv who had come over from the States, gave me a proparI ution of balsams and herbs, which she I said the early settlers in America used and il soon stopped my cough and put me on my feot again."
One has but to travel along the frontier to learn how easy it is to get along without doctors, and how effective are the natural remedies which the old grandmothers know how to prepaie. They often cure where the best physicians fail.
Kvery mother of a family knows how coughs and colds lue quickly ami radically cured with syrups and teas made from balsams and herbs which "grand mother taught us how to make."
Warner's Log Cabin cough and consumption remedy was, after long investigation into the merits and comparison with other old time preparations, se leeted from them because proved to be the very best of them all. It has brought back the roses to many a palid ehecck— there is no known remedy its equal as a cure for coughs and colds.
