The carry Their War on Hi in to Hie Nntloiial Commute. Terre Haute Express:
The turbulent John E. Lamb, who injected himself into a place on the Demociatic electoral ticket in Indiana, it brandishing his shillaleh over Cleveland and Th.urman because the decent taction ot the Democracy who defeated him for Congress in 1884 now demand his withdrawal. Mr. Lamb promises to supply the Democratic party managers with some broken heads and blasted political hopes, reaching to the White House Itself, if the demand is considered, and his opponents prophesy a total eclipse ot the sought-for majority in Indiana, it it is not And meanwhile the •State grows more solid lor Harrison and Morton every day.—Chicago Journal.
The above merely hints at the row that is brewing. When the kickers made a forma', request of the state committee to be heard on their objections to Mr. Lamb as an elector at large in this state they were snubbed. That is tiiev were not given a hearing. The kickers were not abashed bv this but continued the work of perfecting their organization with the intention of making Elector Lamb run a couple of thousand votes behind his ticket in this part of '.he State. In the meantime thev sent to influential members ot the national committee a mil statement of their case. It would seem irom the above that the powers that be down at Washington and New York are paying more attention to the kickers than did the State committee.

The preacher who slips out nf the pulpit through the back door and diheliiims to mingle with his congregation or who allows his time before and after services to be absorbed by a few to tiie exclusion of others who would be cheered and made happier by a friendly word is not fit fo the position he oceuoies. A letter from F. T. Maxwell, of I'elliani, Ott*r Tail county, Minnessota, gives the following account of the great grasshopper harvest now being garnered in that section ot the country: "Ton thousand bushels of grasshoppers." Many are the novel sights that come to a Hoosier tiaveling over the northwest but few can equal the grasshopper harvest of Otter Tail county, Minn. Your correspondent viciiml the Holds to-day and the thing that met his gaze was a mule and rider running with all speed (possible to a Minnessotn mule! with what appeared to be a balloon bobbing along behind, (ioing to the rendezvous we had not long to wait before the mulo anil balloon came tip, and on examination what, seemed to he a balloon proved to be a sled with about twenty yard* of muslin so fu.-tened that, when drawn swiftly it -.vouid torm a sack In-hind into which the hoppers tly.
At the rendezvous two men shake the hoppers into i.ne corner oi the sa and then they are taken OK! and put into barrels or wheat sacks readv for tli^county oflieer. who visits them daily and cashes up one dollar per bushel.
Still another wav is to cover boaids with tar and pitch and drag them over the meadows until, covered, then serapc them off and go again.
It, is a growing industry and quite an unthought of way to dispense of some of th*1 much talked of "Mur]tlus."
County officers and citizens alike dociare that over ten thousand bushels have been caught in this county alone.
