The marriage of Rev. Matthew W Whitelord and Miss Mary D. Navlor occurred Wednesday morning at 8 o'clock, Rev. E. R. Thomson officiating. The newly married started immediately for Richmond. They will live at Ruller, Illinois where Mi. Whitefcrd has charge of a chut ch.

Kutler county, Ohio, Keb. 2!», 1S141, and came todreene county, this State about fifty years ago, and afterwards came to this city where he has since resided. He wns a brother of the late John Kurk. and was a •]uiet. unobtrusive man. He was a member of the Methodist church ami lived a Christian life. The funeral services were held

•I. H. Cable returned this morning Irom Ripley township where he has held three meetings in the interest of Ihe proposed A. A- M. Railway. One meeting was held at Pi nits' school hoiis a second at Alamo and a third at Ridge Farm fiehool liour.e. The meetings were all well attended and Mr. Cable feels that they did good, as many opponents of the road have expressed themselves in its favor since they understand the proposition more fully. Another meeting will be held at YounUvillo on Monday evening. There is no doubt but Uiplev township will vote the tax. Meetings will be held iii tins township next week and the dark spots all made plain. Jl is the duly of Union township to help Uiplev secure this toad. Milium Wreck.
Tuesday night a wreck occurred on the L.. N. A. A Railway near Motion. The wreck occurred to a freight trainar.d was caused by the spreading of the track, which threw the entire train into the ditch- Conductor (folding and the rear I brakeman were imprisoned in the enboose, which lay on its side in a pool of water, and narrowly escaped drowning. Roth were considerably bruised, but if any other persons were hurt, the Monoii ofiieials know nothing about it. Thi* is not strange, however, as railroad otllcials especially Moiion oilleials, never know anything that occurs on the road, if they do their heads come off. Hence who can blame them for being

The law of the Stale malted^ it .'"obligatory on persons owning dams on streams in this State t»» construct lish ladders by which lish are unable to reach the source of the streams or shallow water during the spawning season. It is the duty of the Trustee to see that owners of dams construct these ladders. The fact, that lishing is becoming very pour above Mich obstructions in streams has become a source of much annoyance to persons who like to fish occasionally and when tiiev do to capture larger game than minnows or sun fish. There is a movement on foot to enforce the law on this question, which it" doiR' will make the lishing all along the streams very much better.

he thirteen-moi.ths -oUl child oi Wm. R. McCIamrock was scalded so badly on Tuesday evening that she has since died. A bucket of boiling water was set upon a chair and in some manner was accidentally upset on the baby. It struck the child on the back of the neck and deluged its entire body. The parents have the fullest sympathy of the people of this city among whom they are well known and highly respected. The child died on last Wednesday evening.
