Why is it that all Democratic newspapers and politicians are in favor of a Prohibition party, but none of them in favor of Prohibition?
Nkxt Monday will occur the t-iwm-hip elections, it is important that everv Republican voter should be at tlie polls and bring his doubtful neighbor with him.

Township elections approach. The voter will soon lie called on to make choice of a man to administer township affairs. The PemocrHcv of tliis township an on a still, sly hunt. The Chairman of the Committee lias issued a circular which has been addressed and sent to each Democratic voter through the postoffice. The oommittee is not familiar with the names of all the Demociats. oth'"rwi«e one of these circulars would not have been sent to a Republican, the following of which is a copy:
Peak Silt:—The [dace of voting in No. 1. the precinct in which you reside, is at Bandeis' shop. It is very important that we get out the full vote f.n Township officers at the election to be lipid on April 2. Isss.
Vetheiefore select you as a committee of one. ami as a Democrat, 1. To attend said election without fail.aud to use your influence as in the past, forthe election of our entire ticket. 2. To insist on your Democratic neighbor goin^ to the polls, and to see that eveiy voter of your neighborhood is out and at work.
If this is done the result will be satisfactory. lJv order of Committee. ('HAS. JOHNSTON, Chairman. •It.iir. West. Secretary.
It would be well for Republicans not to be caught napping. The Jovunai. would suggest wherever the word "Democrat" or "Democratic" appears in tile above circular, that "Republican" bo substituted and act accordingly.
Thf. Philadelphia 1'riM.t i.hows what is going on In that city under high license: "The high license law is proving more efficacious in reducing the number of liquor saloons ill Philadelphia than its most
sanguine friends supposed. Fully forty per cent, of the retail dealers who ob
tained licenses under the low rate and loose requirements of the old law were deterred by the high charges and rigorous conditions of the new law from even asking for a license. If all the applications were granted the number of saloons in this city would lie reduced fiom fi.TT'J, the present number, to :i. 12". but if any expectation of its reaching the latter number existed anywhere it lias been effectually dashed by the decision of the (Juarter Sessions Judges rendered yesterday on the applications from seven wards. These wards have now in full blast l,:tl2 saloons. Petitions were presented for under the new law. and of these the Circuit rejected :tt!S, or a little more than one-halt. Nine others were withdrawn, making :i77 failures to receive license and fifteen are still under advisement. The number of applications granted in these seven wards are which is just about 2'ii per cent, of the number of licensed saloons now in these seven wards. Should the same ratio be maintained in the remaining twenty-four wards the toUil number of saloons ill
Philadelphia will be redmvd to less than l.TidO. and the city's revenue of $100 on eacli license, as $100 goes to the litati will be under $000,000."
(N'E of the bills passed bv the Setiati! Monday piovidcs for the pensioning at $2.'i a month of volunteer female nurses who served during the war. This is an act of long and strangely delayed justice a noble class of women. Manv of tlietu have died of diseases contracted iu the discharge of their perilous duties, and we are sure no human person can object lo this tardy recognition of the services of those who remain. The record of faithfulness and self-saerilice they made during the war can never be told, for it was mainly made away from observant eves and with no expectation of reward.
The very modesty and patience with which they performed their deeds of blessed memory ought to have made a sufficiently strong appeal to have secured for them the passage ot a pensicn bill long ago.

Why You Feel
So weak and exhausted is because your blood is impure. As well expect tlm sanitary condition of a city to be perfect with detilcd water and defective sewerage, as to expect such a complicated piece of mechanism as the human frame to be iu good order with impure blood circulating even to its minutest veins. Do you know that every drop of your two or three gallons of blood piloses through the heart aud lungs in., about two and a half minutes, aud that, on. its way, it makes bone and musclo, brain and nerve, and all other solids*' and fluids of the body?
