Archibald Johnson moved that David Knocli, Morgan Snook and. ''-"John Mulchings lie appointed to wait on our Senator and Representatives, before the session of the Let islature, and solicit thein to 11*1 their best efforts to secure retrenchment and economy 111 the expenditures of the State government, a reduction of saUries, and a "reform policy generally."

The question of donations to the '•'•'sufferers in the grasshopper region was discussed at much length, but nothing was done beyond an understanding that contributions could be sent to the Secretary of the State

Grange, to be forwarded by liini to thenevdy sections, or sent direct, as the giver might choose.

A motion to amend the by-laws relative to the election of delegates was postponed until the next meeting.

Some delegate called attention to the statement of Tom Tattler, in last week's Journal, to the effect that some of the high privates among the Grangers are beginning to inquire to what purpose that one million dollars which has been sent to Washington is being applied, and also why it is necessary to pay the. expenses of county delegates who may wish to !o up to Indianapolis on private business. And while they are inquiring whv not investigate whether they are not completely at the mercy of then irresponsible, designing leaders, who not. being a body corporate, can pocket their funds and they can whistle? If is time that the press should speak out against this gigantic swindle. Facts antl figures can lie given if any Granger takes exception to this."

J. A. Mount thought Tom Tattler's scribbling unworthy of notice. John Harnett, said if the council took notice to every little whiffet that snapped and barked at their heels they would soon have every cur in the county yelping at their trail.

Archibald Johnson introduced a motion which was carried, that as Tom Tattler was not a Granger it •was none of his business what the Grangers paid their delegates.

Jacob llarshbarger made a very satisfactory statement relative to the proceedings of the State Grange and the action of the delegates of this county, during its session.

A vote ol thanks was extended to the delegates for their services at the State Grange, this being the banner county, and that fact being attributed to their services.

The President called attention to the fact that the officers for the ensuing year would be elected at the next regular meeting.

Several measures were introduced upon which no action was taken, and some passed that were not made public.

The consideration of the railroad question was postponed until the ... next regular meeting.
