Wii.iiiam C. House, of this city was arrested on last Tuesday for the violation of an ordinance of the city in committing an assault and battery on Samuel C. Moore, of Brown township, and was fined $20. Afterwards on the same day, House was arrested on a State warrant and brought before Esquire Ramsay to answer to asiinitar charge. 'Squire RaniMiy, on account of his limited jurisdiction and'the aggravated character of the case, recognized the defendant for' his appearance at the February term of the Circuit Court to answer to the charge. The assault was committed on Tuesday morning while Moore was standing at the Allen corner unconscious of harm, and was seemingly made without any cause whatever. Moore's injuries consisted of several painful, but not serious, cuts and bruises on tho head.

That "there's nothing succeeds like success" is as true of business as of any thing else. And that it pays to succeed, even at the expense of continued industry, watchfulness and care, is equally true. And that this has been done here is plainly evinced by the fact that there has been an enormous and increasing business done right along through the entire season, people coming here from twenty-five to thirty miles, from everv direction, because they can find the largest and best assorted stock of goods of every description, and buy them at such reasonable rates as well pays them for the trouble of coming even thirty miles to get to trade at the widely popular mammoth dry goods establishment of Allen & Bro.

Mrs. Hanna is never behind the demand in her business.
