A platform had oeen erected for speakers in lront o. the Allen corner, but it was evident long lielore dark that it was to graced inly by home talent. Gov. lien-diiek-'lial been invited, but he id business in W.isbi-igton. ,1'an Voorliees vas bil el for speech at Evansville, and 1r some rea-oti \lcloiiald, the other aspirant lor .-'enatorial honors, was unable to be present. Toe failure of these gentlemen was a disappointment, but it gave a iiond opportunity for tliedi-playof home t-ilent, which was improved bv t'ol.S C. Wi'lson. Gen. Manson, lion. John Lee, Heubi

Fink and W. II. Thompson. The speaking and noise were continued till a late hour at night.

Montgomery Count Medical Society I he HO. if.y'met on Tuesday, Nov. 10. in the ftlu rill"office, with the President in the chair and members present as follows: Hi pes logsett, ^Murray, lierryiuan, Griffith. McClelland, Johnson and Piirviauce. and visitors l)rs. Cowan and W, I). McClelland.

The minutes 1 previous meeting were read. Dr. McClelland reposed a good result in the case of amputation lor caries of leg, before reported.

I)r. McMurr-iy exhibited a specimen •which be said had been coughed up from the lung a patient fourteen years before, after severe salivation, tlurim hintfever, the patient missed one of the wisdom teeth. It was noi known how, when or where it had disappeared. The question was, is this specimen the remains of 'Ihat tooth? The resemblance was not sufficient to justify a decision in the faee of the tact that concretions of calcaneus salts are Ireqnently expelled from thelungs of phthisical patients.

Dr. Purviance was not prepared with tin- essay expected of him. 1Jr 1 logsett read an, essay on, "The Fever Thermometer."

It was resolved lie^e Iter to meet at half past nine in the morning. Drs. Purviance and May were continued as s-ayists

Drs. McClelland and MeVIurray promised reports of cases ciiner oral or written.

'lli" l» iiiot'i*atic Jollification. In ino»t -espects the jollification meeting of the Democrats lust Tuesday night was a success. The firing of cannon at intervals in the afternoon awakened the yeomanry of the country to a proper appreciation ol the importance of the occasion, and securcd a good attendance from that source. Our citizens generally turned out to to swell the crowd, without tejard to politics. Most of the houses and oliiccs about the Court House square were illuminated, and huge bonfires were kindled at various localities. There was an extensive but not verysuccessiul ili.-plny of fire works. Many ol'ihe Clnm-si' lanterns were carried bv Republicans and bad attached to them little sli|s ol paper mi which were written the names of I'. S. Keumdy and Teddy Brown and the word-, '"Not for Voorliees."
