ing insulted his wife, the Dr. being called to prescribe for a sick child. The insult is said to have been given day before yesterday, and Mr. Spence's attention called to it the same evening. Yesterday morning he armed himself with a shillaly and kept a sharp lookout for the doctor. He did not however come across him until about 4 o'clock yesterday evening, when he went up into his ollice. Finding no one in the main office, he tried the door leading to a private room, which was locked. Hearing voices within ho promptly forced open the door and found the doctor sitting on the lounge with a woman. The doctor seeing trouble ahead at once attempted to make his cscape down stairs, which he did, closely followed by Spence, whoever and anon whacked him over the head and shoulders with his little stick. The thoroughly frightened disciple of Ksculapius darted ronnd through an alley, climbed over a back fence and took refuge in the kitchen of a house near by, finally hiding himself under the bed. The doctor complains of feeling very sore from the effects of theddows he received and last evening alter the affray feared further personal violence.
