They all did a good business in this city last Saturday. It did look to a disinterested observer that they had been "set up" here.
THE Independents of this county and the Independents of the State don't consist. The former fill the vacancies in their ticket by the Central Committee. The latter condemn the practice and pro-! pose to fill their vacancies by a mass convention at Indianapolis on the 12th of Auuust.

UNDER the new system of appraisement the railroads of the State pay on $40,000,000 more stock than they did under the old system, and that $40,000,000 yields a revenue of $(H),000. But the Democracy propose to repeal the present law and return to the old system. It does look as though the railroad corpora, tions had a linger in the fixing up of the Democratic platform.
