While threshing I asked these same ncighlmrs what they thought of "lxiokfarining" now, their yield of wheat being from five to fifteen bunhels per acre. Now my object in giving this statement is for mi boast, but to show tliat a little extra work in putting out our crops, and cultivating them better, is the panacea for most of our complaints. Farm less acres, plow deeper, cultivate thoroughly, sow good and clean seed, "trust in God." and my word for it (if you are a reasonable man) your complaints will be fewer. I kept tills account with my wheat crop to find out whether or lot 1 could raise wheat at SI per bushel at the present high price of labor. I did my own work except harvesting and threshing (harvest hands 1 paid lifiv cents per day over what others paid.) 1 charged for myself and learn the same as if I had hired it done
