Legislature is the bill tlint has pa-^d boil,
"Houses in regard to the eolleciion
taxi-s in aidof railroad'. It will doubtless receive the universal approval of the people. The law provides that the Auditor and Treasurer shall suspend the collection of a tax voted in aid of a railroad
and allow it to remain on the duplicate
of money expended by the railroad
pany in any county or township shall be
equal to the donation or subscription made by such county or township, and the same is made to appear to the satisfaction ofthe County Commissioners, it shall be their duty to order said tax to be collected as if it had never been suspended. It aLo provides against the not uucomuion occurrence of allowing ties to rot on a graded road, by making it the business of the Treasurer to collect the money after the work indicated above shall be done and to pay out the money when the cars rim over the track.
This is quite an important election for the tax-pavers. Rv the rejection of this amendment the State will become liable for the payment of about $1-\010,IHKI.
