for it, and by the exercise of a little patience vould avoid it altogether, especially now since the Boston fire which destroyed so much wool and leather. Uf the 100,000,000 pounds of wool which are annually produced in this country and the 70,0C0,OO0 Unit are imported, only about five or ten million pounds were destroyed in the boston fire. This may tend slightly to unsettle the wool market, but it will be of temporary duration. The leather market ami the boot Con-ress and shoe market are also temporarily affected by this fire. The destruction, however, will give fresh activity to the industries of many thriving towns in Eastern Massachusetts, and-aid at once in repairing the damage done by the fire.

A bill for a new road law has been carefully prepared and introduced into the lower house of the Legislature, by Representative Ogden of Hendricks, making the County Surveyor a Road Supervisor for the whole county, ivijuiring him to let out the mad work to the lowest bidder. The details of the bill are all carefully guarded so as to secure fair and honest awards aud the greatest "fiicieney in the system. The successful bidders are required to give bond aud are made responsible to any person injured by defects in the roads.
