mand the praise and admiration of all who see it at Gregg & Son's.

When yon want a nice hat or bonnet call on Mrs. F. M. Manila, and if you are not satisfied, wc will take it as a favor if you will report to this office. We know that you will be satisfied. Her establishment, tin Main street, is one of the institutions of our city.

New lot of parasols opened at Wasrjon'? to-day.

We think we can not be far out of the way in saying that for variety and low-1 n«H of the price, the stock of dress goods at thc Stone Front, 011 Main street, can not be excelled in the St#te of Iudiaua. Charlie's stock includes all thfc best styles of dress goods now sold.

Take a| look at those handsome fans just opened at Wasson's.

Irving is keeping the inline loving people happy by selling them a large number of organs and pianos, and there is 110 other \uiy of accounting for his selling so ninny tliau that he sells the vriy Lett at very low prices. Cull and see him and ltis instruments at first door south of Elston Bank,

"How tweet athing it is to know" that there is such an establishment in ottr midst as that of Win. Craig's popular bakery anil confectionery establishment, 011 Washington street, where housekeepers can procure biscnits, light brrad, cakes and jiics at any time. So don't hurry when unexpected company comcs, but send to Craig's aud get just what you want.

The dry gmds house of Wassons it Myers has grown into marked prominence in the trade features of our city, and has acquired an enviable reputation for reliableness of representations as to quality of goods. The quality and variety of their stock is equal to any that can be found in any establishment in this city. Their location is in No. 4 Exchange block, 011 Main street.

Milt Gregg's establishment on Main street is weil stored with goods for housekeepers at this season of the year. Among the prominent articles will le found refrigerators, all styles and prices ice chcsts, water coolers, ice cream freezers, toilet sets, some elegant styles clothes wringers, and no end to the stoves in all styles and prices. All he asks is an examination of his goods and prices.

While so much attention is being paid to indirect claims in regard to the Alabama question, and other matters, the dircct claims of such benefactors as llcnkle & Snyder, who provide so many of our table comforts, should not be neglected. No. National block, on Washington street, is the recognized headquarters for articles in the line of family groceries and country produce.

Far 111 era, when you come to town, bear in mind thntS. H. Gregg & Son's extensive establishment, 011 Main street, is headquarters for all kinds of hardware, tools, lioes, rakes, and all kinds of implements used by farmers, from a plow to a threshing machine. Their line of builders' hardware is very full and complete, and in this line they aro doing a pretty large trade.

A large assortment of linen and Batiste suits for ladies just opened at W. N. Wasson's.

Gregg & Son sell the Acme, Buckeye State, and Ball's Ohio reapers aud mowers: Indiana 2-horse'cultivator or walking plow, Fiilgeum grain drill, Birdsall clover huller, the genuine Vibrator thresher, the A. Garr steam engines and separators, also the celebrated self-pro-pcllingjportablo engine. Iu fact they keep almost all kinds of '.lie latest improved implements and machinery for farm use.

Sloan & Southard, north corner of Commercial Row, corner of Green and Market streets, is the place to buy your country produce, your teas, codecs, sugars and fancy groceries. They are young and enterprising merchants, determined to build up a first class tfade by strict attention to business and square dealing in prices. Any thing wanted in their line can be had of them by any body, rich or poor, at bottom prices.

It is uncertain who will be elected President, for if the Democrats unite on Greeley, the Republicans will have a stout tussle to elect Grant, but the people will continue, nevertheless, to buy theirgrocerics and produce of P. R. Simpson it Co., on Main street, because, you know, they sell so cheap, have such excellent goods and such a large stock to select from. If an election was held, Philo Simpson would be voted the most popular grocery dealer in Crawfordsville.

Croquet cheapat Campbell & Tinsley's.

The fashionable young ladies of this city now insist 011 having their siioea, slippers, etc., purchased at the elegant store of Mr. J. Challis, on Main street, and thc gentlemen, in duty bound, follow their example. This, together with the undeniable fact that Challis has the choiccst stock of boots and shoes in the city, is why you will at all hours of the day and evening fiud customers adniiringly in spec'.i ng his elegant goods.

All thc latest styles, all the neatest and prettiest, all the fincstand best millinery goods at Wasson's.

Why the best is the cheapest. Because you have to pay just as much for mnk-ing and trimming a poor article of clothing as you do for a good one. Good clothing, I well made, always pays as a matter of economy, to say nothing of thc comfort of a good fitting suit. Then if you wish to study economy, durability and comfort, make a selection immediately from the new stock of Spring and .Summer suitings now opening at R. M. Jlills & Co.'s, corner of Market and Green streets.

All the latest styles of fans and parasols are shown at W. N. Wasson's.

Every body, that Fry & Shean keep constantly on hand every thing usually kept in bakery and confectionery, also have a full stock of groceries which they will give in exchange for cash or country produce. Remember the place, 011 Main street. Green Front, opposite the Court llousc.

I'nrmorR, Beware ol' IiupoHtorN. Certain parties have been traveling over Montgomery county nnd effecting thesaleof worthless spectacles by representing theniselvesa.s theagentsof Cheap John. That farmers and their families

the cut-worms taking it as fust as it may be on their guard against such imconies lip. —Wheat is looking splendid and every body is predictfng a large crop. If present priccs are maintained until after harvest farmers will get handsome profit for their labor, a thing they have' not received for a long time. —It may be news to some of your sportsmen to learn that Mr. Philip Harwood, one day last week, shot an owl that measured four feet four inches from tip to tip. Who can beat that? —That excellent music teacher Prof. Cress, of Waveland, is teaching a class of forty-five scholnrn iu town. —John Dwiggins, our enndidnte for Commissioner, has been electioneering among our fanners the past few days iu the way of buying fat hogs. He purchased about ouchuudred aud fifty at cents per pound.

postors, I state that I never employ any agents of an^- kind, lor the aale of any of the articles 111 which I deal. Any one, therefore, representing himself as such agent is necessarily an impostor. •40 CHEAT JOHN.
