A convention to discuss the woman question has been called to meet in LaFayettc on the 10th and 11th of November. The following are the! subjects that will be discussed:

First. Does a Republican form of government require the elective franehise of women as well as men

Second, What are the obstacles in the way of woman's.suffrage, and how shall the}' be removed

Third. What would

be

influence in politics Fourth. What would

The Tennessee Legislature, oil Friday last, elected Henry Cooper! United States Scnator. The balloting commenced on Tuesday Andrew Johnson receiving forty-three votes on joint ballot the first vote. Johnson's greatest strength was iifty-one votes, the number received on the last ballot.

Aaio.No the names mentioned in! connection with the office of Secretary) of State, on the Democratic ticket, we see that of General R. C. Kise, editor of the Boone. County Pioneer, as likely to succeed before the ^Convention. Doubtless the General can get the nomination if lie wants it, and we guess he stands a willing sacrifice.

i'wo Democrats in the Vermont House of Representatives voted for the ratification of the fifteenth amendment. We couldn?t expect anything less after the assent to its ratification of Archibald Johnson in the Indiana Senate last Spring.

Two United States Senators were elected by the Virginia Legislature on Tuesday of last week. Lieutenant Governor Lewis for the long term, and John W. Johnson, of Washington count.\\ for the short term.
