of Oct. 11 it, appears that

Jic lias deCHledlv got the wrong unilersUmdiiig of things. Hi' .speaks of my article of Sept. 9, :md says that 1 haw' disturbed the ashes of our fathers and also that if I can't offer any bettor afginnents, Are.

my intention ashes, nor to

future, lie is the man. not his father,

But if our fathers oppressed one half of the human family I give them no honor for it. I would farther s.\y that it was not my purpose to give any arguments in that article or to make any vindication whatever of •ights of women. Rattler have done well to achimself with my proposition before, making an attack. 1 was asked for my opinion of the matter and simply gave it. was only trying to satisfy curiosity, not to discuss the question. But if you have any arguments to show that the right of suffrage will degrade women I should be glad if you would state them, for 1 know of none. I have never heard of freedom having degraded in the past, but what it will do in the future I know not. But I hope that franchise has never degraded the Hat-tier, and Avonder if he does not think that his-wife has the same right that he lias to all the rights and privileges which he enjoys
