And now Jet the people of the ditto rent townships shake hands over the result, and unite in securing the best expenditure of the money voted. The out townships, some of them with more selfishness than seemed becoming, have voted against the proposition and been beaten. If Union could have exchanged places with Clark her vote might, have been different, but no person has any reason to grumble. Every farm in the county will partake of the advantages of the road when it is built, and so let every voter cheerfully bear his share of the burden.

The Muncie 77hies devotes one column and a half to the development of some -'crude idees" in regard to elee(ricit y. In the first column is a minute./description of the cireum stances, distance from the-'house, direction, size, hight of stumps, direction in which hay was being pitched —whether.to the right whether by a right-handed or left handed man—how many times the man had pHched sif.ee limner, what •\\ero the inunes. .oi the parties with him, which way his i'aee v.-as turned: and wiiich way, consequently, his back, right-side and left side—under which, in wiiich, about which, &c. &c., a man was killed by lightning. The remaining ha'i column is devoted to the development proper and thanks to the parties why weio near the man at the time for kindly pointing out ihe particulars above numerated, "although they had just quit work." The "crude idea," main, is that the man was killed by pressure upon his body f|-om above downward, in the ratio of two and a. half on the right side to three on the lett side, since the right heel had been sunk in the ground two and a half inches and the left three inches. Hon' tine! But could not the Times as well devote another column to the subject? The idea, would be so much clearer if we only knew whether the American or foreign bon his parents were rich or old they were when they ried. &c., &c., &c.

Tieturns from the State election which was held in Tennessee last Thursday are incomplete. The Senterites have swept the State by large majorities The mnjority for Senter, for Governor, is placed by some reports as high as sixty-five thousand. But few counties gave majorities for Stokes. The State Senate, has. a probable majority of Conservative Republicans.
It is hard to tell what this result means. A Conservative Republican is doubtful, to say the least. Some of the Tennessee journals claim that the victory means universal suffrage, and others that it means a white man's government.
CHAHtiEN IN KEPttEKEKT/VTION. Estimating the present population of the United States at thirty-nine millions, the Missouri .Democrat. from the comparative basis alforded by recent elections, makes an estimate of the eschasige in the weight of representation by the census of 1870, by which it makes ous that in a House of Representatives of the same number as the present, the Atlantic States will have 107 members against the 120 which they now Have, and thu:, the V/ei-lrr:i and States will have 1 :!0 meMuuiV against the 11-) wiiich they now have, making, a transfer of 2 members from East to West. Thus .the Western States including' Alabama and the Pacific States, will together have a majority of 19 members }vcr the entire At lantie. States. The New England States would have 20 members the other Atlantic States, 87 total 107. The Southern- States bordering on the Gulf and River, 30 the ".Northwestern arid Pacific States, 00 total, 120. The financial manager, of. this institution, Mr. P. II Sumner, reports the prospects of its successful revival after a suspension of a few years during the war as very flattering. Johnson county'has recently endowed one Chair with 615,000, and other endowments are confidently expected soon to place the College on a firm basis. If Mr. Sumner is as successful in the nanagement of the financial affairs of the College as he has been in his own affairs, it is probable that these hopes will soon be realized, and the institution made what its friends intend, a seat of learning of which the Baptists of Indiana may well feel proud.
The College is situated in Franklin, Johnson county, about twenty miles south of Indianapolis. It is open, alike to both sexes.
