WAITING.
Waiting! yes, with saddest iiwe, tl^e dread call to come, That shall tell me Death, the reaper, is soon to bear me home, Across that unknown river, dividing heaven and earth. To Him, the Infinite Worker, who gav,e my being birth.
This soul, perhaps will fly to Him, and he gathered to His breast. And in His perfect love lind a thorough perfect rest: Yet I tnust mourn the casket, deprived of this fair thing. This spirit which hath crowned it with all that life may bring.
I mourn to die and leave lite world no thought ofnoble deed, That could* give my lifts a worth, or sweet remembrance plead That o'er mv grave no 11 ewers of love or fame will bloom, To make my sleep more blessed within the silent txmb.
Waiti mr! that tlii

try to check the horrid thought, that with a. strange delight. Pictures to my inner i»ion, a horrible, siokening sight: 1 we a giinstlv. moulderhur heap. frotn whence all life hath lied. Ttiere noxious worms their iwoN keen, and fatten on the. dead.
I ace the vai.imt. sockets where hrigbt-ning eyes onee beamed, staring from an empty skull, where these stra-uarc thoughts have teemed: The fallen ik'sh discloses the blackness of decay, Audgrave-yard worms nre holding there, a carnage wild and gav.
They heed nut the threads of hair that have known the sweet caress, Of hands I loved which never more their smoothness now may press Ah! never more will those dear hands touch my waving hair. Por faded and "stained with earth and dew, 'twill lie forgotten there.
Waiting! yes for this frail form can bear but little more, Death's dew, e'en now, seems starting from every quivering pore: The stars grow pale in watching the moon has a sickly glare, .-. And evcrything'seems concious that Death broods in the air.
The solemn chime of another sphere falls on my waiting, listtiing ear. And angel voices whisper, come home, thy rest is here. Blessed words, that o'er my heart cast, a sweet and wondrous spell, Foresh ado wings of the .joy sublime, when in that home I dwell.
A little longer yet I'll wait, for the rest God's promised me, I'll rind 'neath the shadows of the dowering lotus tree, I'll breathe in the zephyrs wafted through scented airs. It will compensate forever, for all my earthhorn cares. Pella Dcrrox.
