SINOEB SEWING MACHINES. New York
The State Fair jnst closed (at Buffalo) was an unexampled sueeef-s in ilearly'-'-cvofy-d'epartment. The interest which usually centers upon acwing machines was not •wanting "It was intensified, doubtless, by the angry (and not altogether reputable) dispnto \?bich has arisen orcf the "medals" tHid' tb bav^jjeen-nwarded'aj Jtho Raris Exposition. Lut these liiedals counfea for Viothiog here, for the judges insisted upon .thorougn cxansinaiion for themselves of the se"vernl machines in eiTJipctitioii, and the .16,-ialt "Vas y. unanimous repq^t-awarding the highest ]rizo to the exiiibitors^f the. "Singof" for the best ffahiily pc.ving muchins -also for the best manufacturing machinoi'nn also for the best-'h.if.tya-hole mnchine. A clcati sweep and a righteous judgement say ibo?e w'ao are best informed.- It was suggested by many who saw tho magni'lcciit display made of theso machines, and the variety and Admirable quality of tho work they performed, that the manufacturers, were remiss in not sending them to the Paris Exposition, and thus have obviated the bitter controversy being carried on over (he gold medal. But the Singer M-ainufacturing Company, whose snles of machines for the past year have exceeded forty-three thousand (some thousands more thin any other company in the world) care more for the "people's verdict," we I apprehend, than for all tho gold medals that wore or could have been awarded at Paris. The Exhibition at Buffalo, to which wo have alluded, was made by the enterprising agents of the I Singi.r machines ia L'tica.— Uticu Daily Ilcruld,
