There was ft rumor here that a riot occurred in •Vv^Tuskegee yesterday, ih which several .were killed. TF/tiYfc citizens here are very bitter1 against those who voted."
The poor men of Alabama, both "white and colored, are dt this time more than usually dependent on those ablo to furnish them employment, and it is well known that the wealthy citizens and landowners of the State are almost solidly opposed tB rceonstruc tion. They say to the laboring men, "if you vote, you and your families shall starve," and! it is uoi surprising that many surrender "the freedman:s privilege in the hopo of keeping fam-. in© from their hearth stones. The arristocrats possessed- a tyrant's power, and used it in a tyrant's way.

Senator H^j^ricivs'
The entire speech was against the Congressional plan of reconstruction— against all reconstruction, for ho did not even advocate the President's plan —without stating a better'puticy. The Senator seemed contcnt with the short argument in favor of the propoaition that a State once in the Union could not be takon out of the Union by tho treason and rebellion of the people of- a State, and that tho war for the suppression of the rebellion, with ita awful cost of blood and treasure, is entirely, profitless.

The laDgitage used. .and.--jviews ex pr6ssed by1 Senator Morton' prior to the year 185G, and even in '60 and '61, would have better suited the purpose of Senator Hendricks. SINGER SEWING MACHINES. New York State Fair.
The State Fair just closed (at Buffalo} was an unexampled success in nearly every department. The interest which usually centers upon sewing machines was not wanting. It was intensified, doubtless, by the angry (and not altogether reputable) dispute which has arisen over the "medals" said to have been awarded at the Paris Exposition. But those medals countod for nothing here, for the judges insisted upon a thorougn examination for themselves uf the several machines
in competition, and the result was a unanimous "report awarding the highest prize to the exhibitors of tho "Singer" for the best family sewing machine also for the best'manufacturing machine, an also for the best bit,t.un-h'lo machine.
A clean sweep and a righteous judgement say those who are best informed. It was suggested by many who saw tn'e magriilcent display made of these machines, and, the variety and admirable quality of the work they performed, that, the manufacturers were remiss in not sending them to the Paris Exposition, and thus have obviated the bitter.Controversy being carried oh over the gold medal. But the Singer Manufacturing Company, wbos8 sales of machines for the pastyear have exceeded forty-three thousand (some thousands more than any other Company in the world) care more for the "people's verdict./' wo apprehend, than for all the gold medals that were or could bavo been awarded at Paris. Tho Exhibition at Buffalo, to which we have alluded, was made by the enterprising agents of the Singer machines ia Utica.— Utica Daily Herald, Oct. 9.
